Get StartedThe Green whatever is in doable and bat shit crazy, which makes sense - AOC is way too hot to not also be crazy.
Pelosi knows this. I think her responses are way more conciliatory than Alpha.
I actually do not think Pelosi wants the same things AOC wants.
I think the two are fundamentally different.
I need to read up on the Green New Deal. I obviously think we need that sort of an effort. Hope she doesn't screw up any chance of making one happen.
She flat out called it a dream. Pretty cunt move. Sounds like she was more civil in the later remarks on the topic though. I don't know any details on the 'deal'. I should probably check it out some time.
Pelosi has long been a voice on climate change. They have different approaches, sure. But I think they want the same thing.
who?
AOC. I'm glad someone is pushing something, but if it's easily dismissed as crazy, it will make it more difficult for someone else to push a different plan. I've only seem a few non-specific bullets so far though. Can't pass judgement. Don't know if Pelosi is being reasonable - but it's not a good sign.
Don’t get me wrong-back in my heyday I used to date chicks who were way crazier than this because they were hot. When they weren’t pissed off and trying to attack me with a lethal weapon, their insane rants were generally delightfully entertaining-what the fuck, why not, right?
Well one thing that confused me was AOC thinks that within 10 years we can make air travel obsolete?which seemed far fetched...until I realized she meant AIRPLANE travel would be obsolete.
This is a good illustration of the problem. I'm probably in favor of whatever it is she's getting at, but she wrapped it up in crazy talk.
Is there any excuse for the sorry state of our rails? China has a train that goes a bit more than the equivalent of D.C. to Madison, WI in under 5 hours. We've been talking about plans for 'high speed' rails here for at least ten years and the 'high speeds' they're talking about are only 95 mph.
one excuse for not investing billions in that rail system would be the fact that we have planes that will get you from D.C. to Madison, WI in 92 minutes.
High speed rail makes more sense for short haul routes like NY to DC or even Boston to DC - I think it takes about 3 hours to get to DC from NY on the Acela train which only saves you 30 mins vs. "conventional" trains. It's definitely going to save you time on the NY end vs. any airport since the station is right in the City below MSG - not sure if you gain more time on the DC end - I've never taken it.
I agree that high speed rail makes more sense for shorter distances. But still, we don't have any high speed rail. That Acela train is some sort of sick joke seemingly designed by people that hate high speed rail to create propaganda suggesting high speed rail is impossible.
I haven't paid much attention to the arguments
