TB Rays close upper deck

They need to close out the lower deck as well. It was never going to work. Even when they're good, a state where there are fans from all over the country just not enough die-hard's.

Why do they need to move? The are a profitable MLB club (unlike DET) and is making more than $30 Mil on their TV revenue over DET. They consistently field a competitive team and are the 6th winningest team in baseball since 2008 (DET is 14th). They draft well. Their stadium is one of the worse in the majors and lacks the corporate suites needed in modern ballparks.

Plus the stadium is in St Pete with no where near the population as Tampa. That is why they are trying to move to Ybor.

I don't think attendance is going to help a whole lot. I get they don't play in Tampa but how many were born there? Or would root for them. About 70% of Floridians aren't even from Florida. They moved there.. One caveat for them, MLB is an old people sport 40 and up and Florida is probably half 40 and up.

And if you're going to spend time at night in Ybor why do at a baseball stadium?

The Lightning do great in attendance when the team is good. They are also downtown and next to Channelside. Plus what Rebbiv said they are a more profitable team than the Tigers.
