Our FG % this season:

5/9, 60%

Jake Moody, 5/6, long of 43, missed one in the 30-39 range.
Quinn Nordin, 0/3, 2 of those 50+ yard misses, another missed from 30 though

Harbaugh's letting Nordin kick XPs mostly... he's 15/15, and Moody is 6/6.

I was thinking it was shakier than it is, but it's really just Nordin.

I guess it makes sense to try to keep Nordin happy & kicking, assuming at some point we might need him to hit a 50 yarder, but then again, how could anyone put a game on his leg with how shaky he's been?

Maybe better to just give Moody the job full time.

Moody hit a 48 yarder last year. He has the leg strength to hit over 50. Nordin hasn't made a FG since he started shanking them during the Wisconsin game last season. There is no good reason to have him kicking over Moody.

Our kicking game was always a stable part of the program until Rich Rod showed up (and Brabbs was a tad erratic but clutch and a great guy).

The 1st kicker I remember being automatic was Ali Haji-Shiek. Just looked up some old names......Bob Bergeron took over for Ali, then Mike Gillette, JD Carlson, Remy Hamilton, Jay Feely and Hayden Epstein, Garrett Rivas. 25 years of consistency with an odd year here and there. Those are some good kickers

I'd say Kenny Allen was a good kicker. K.C. Lopata, too.

KC Lopata was a great kicker.

Garret Rivas was as well, but I remember a lot of complaints about him, though his stats to not warrant the complaints

No one has more FGs than Rivas in M history.

Remy Hamilton... back in the late 90's I picked up a girl for a date & she had an autographed pic of Remy Hamilton in her room. she told me she "used to date him" and I remember being super intimidated.

Two thoughts were going through my head:

1) HOLY SHIT how can I compete with a guy who kicked a game winning FG to beat ND in '94!?!?!

2) Uh... when and what do you mean by "dated"? you and I just turned 18 and he's like 25?

Lol, I'm pretty sure I've shared this one before but I was dating a girl I worked with at Cottage Inn my senior year and when I went to her apartment she had pictures of this baseball player all over this one corkboard. I told her how I'd played HS baseball for TC and was all cool and it was about then that she told me it was AA Yankees prospect Derek Jeter. She was from Kalamazoo and had dated him in HS until he got drafted.

Lopata had the highest % of fg made and I still, for the life of me, cant remember him.
He wasn't good in 2008. He was 10/15 on FGs, which is 66.7%. That's really bad in the kicking game.

In 2007 he was 11/12. This were his only two years.

Dick Rod sucked, but I really doubt he was the cause of it.

If that's how we want to view it, then it's Harbaugh's fault Nordin has the yips.

I'm not assigning blame but just observing the kicking game used to be really reliable. A client of mine is HS friends with Garret Rivas and you could always just say it wasn't RR's fault, that Carr "left the cupboard bare," but special teams used to be better.

I fucked up my post. I meant in a season. What's funny is that I checked wiki again today and somehow JD Carlson passed him in 24hrs for highest fg percentage in a season, lol. People changing shit.

3rd all time %

RR was the cause of it. Remember how bad it got his last year? 4 for 14 on the season.

After Hoke got to Ann Arbor, one of the kickers said the new staff was shocked that the kickers never practiced in Michigan Stadium, or under live game conditions.

The dumbass couldn't even make sure his assistants knew how to coach basic football fundamentals.

I have tried my best to forget as much as possible from his era.

I didn't know he didn't have the kickers practice in the stadium. Can't say I'm surprised.

It is Harbaugh's fault that the kickers suck. I mean he only recruited the best kickers in the country.

Maybe he should've recruited a lower guy with s chip

Moody doesn't suck. The coaches just keep trotting out the guy with the yips.
