The New Recruiting Thread

Frustrating thing with the OL and DL is how Hoke talked about building from the trenches. Maybe those recruits are just not seasoned enough, but other teams start freshmen and sophomores with far greater success.

What are you talking about? The reason Hoke got canned is because he couldn't develop the 4/5-star OL recruits he brought in. From Frosh on, he couldn't coach them...

or his staff.

which is probably why almost all are still unemployed football coaches

Great point.

You'd think that of the 4 and 5 star guys they have, they'd be able to find 5 who could be better than they've been.

Quite frankly, I thought the 2014 line was greatly improved over 2013 (though it couldn't be any worse). But shit, Jack Miller (converted DE) and a walkon were starting over guys with pretty impressive offer sheets. Basic statistics lead me to conclude that finding 5 out of 14 (I think that was the # of 4 and 5 star OL) to coach up would lead to much better results than fans have seen.

And most came with him. The two who didn't come with him are the two who are employed. Mallory and Manning. (And Nussmeier)

Look, I get you have the opinion that I'm an idiot or something, but I don't understand the confusion in what I posted since it was the same as your point. Hoke claimed he wanted to build from the trenches, recruited accordingly, yet never really developed those recruits, which is sad since other schools did.

Sorry that my first post was too unintelligent to have that come across.

4 star qb Brandon Peters commits for 2016! - via his twitter

Avon (Ind.) High Top247 quarterback Brandon Peters committed to Michigan during his weekend visit, his family tells 247Sports.

The nation's No. 7 pro-style quarterback according to 247Sports and the No. 157 player overall, Peters chooses the Wolverines over offers from the likes of Arkansas, LSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Boston College, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.

Peters arrived in Ann Arbor on Friday with his family and committed during the evening.

He later Tweeted the news.

Offered by Michigan on Feb. 9, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound Peters quickly named the Wolverines his leader. Since then, he's built a strong relationship with Jedd Fisch and the staff and didn't take long to make up his mind in visiting the Michigan campus for the first time.

Peters is commit No. 3 for the Wolverines in the class-of-2016, and second four-star recruit joining offensive tackle Erik Swenson.

Also a Division-I basketball recruit, Peters threw for 1,876 yards and 21 touchdowns to just six interceptions as a junior. He added five more rushing scores.

Peters was a top of the board quarterback recruit for Jim Harbaugh and his staff in the 2016 recruiting cycle.

I can see why Harbaugh likes him. He has a Luck style of game. I am by no means saying he is Luck but he has the style. Just enough mobility to keep defenses honest. Stands tall and delivers a good ball. If I trust his evaluations on anything right now it will be at QB. he has more than proven he can coach QB's

Apparently he is also being recruited as a D1 basketball player. This means he is mobile and tall. Me likey!

edit: didnt see in original post

Yes sir. One of my best friends coaches him in bball and he plays about 3 miles away from me. I talked to my buddy last night and Peters is ecstatic to be a Michigan commit. QB U!

Just got done watching his highlights. He keeps the ball high, makes checks, can throw the long ball, and can run like hell. This kid, Gentry, and Malzone can all toss it and run. This is great stuff for the future.

Rumors are that Lavert Hill will be flipping to Michigan from Penn St. This would be a huge get.
