Congratulations to TinselWolverine for damn near nailing the final score for the Purdue game on the head. His 27-10 was only a point off and who knows, if the visitor's locker room had basic amenities like AC and training tables not from the Wilson administration, the score could have been even higher!

Well, on to the BYE Week .....

Do we have a legit QB controversy on our hands now that Speight is/was injured and O'Korn came in and looked really quite good?

What about the RB? Evans and Isaac ...Higdon? Was Walker getting PT at the end of the game just to get him action or the beginning of more PT?

Could Don Brown's mustache beat a grizzly bear in a wrastlin' match?

How good is this Defense? Gary ..Bush ..Winovich and Furbush seem to be an impressive core four so far..

How concerning the next game? Wins over a couple MAC teams in EL followed by a humbling defeat to the then unranked Irish. Is playing Iowa in a 4th consecutive home game before coming into Ann Arbor good or bad for the game?

So what's up with the night game? Get off my lawn!! or Hell Yeah!!!

Any other BYE week thoughts ....?

There is no controversy. This is O'Korn's job now. Or at least it should be.

I agree on the QB approach. I was a pretty ardent Speight defender, but you gotta go with what works. On Saturday I was still arguing it seemed like they called easier pass plays for O'Korn (thinking of the throw to the FB, and more TE crossing routes)... but so what? offense finally moved the ball well, and scored TDs in the redzone. Let's just keep doing that.

as far as the RBs go, we should just keep dividing carries between Evans, Higdon, and Isaac (in no particular order) and ride whoever is having the best game. Seems there's an advantage to not being the starter; defense doesn't know what to expect & also the guy who comes off the bench is fresher. So just keep splitting the workload. total team rushing yards is a more important stat for the W/L column than individual rushing yards.

the defense is really good.

I'd wager they're better than last year's defense. statistically, in terms of YPG, that's true as well. only concern is whether we miss more experienced DBs when we play better teams later in the season. but we'll see. I'm cautiously optimistic they'll be fine, especially with our DL and Devin Bush flying in to wreck shit every play

I wouldn't worry TOO much about the secondary, because there are not a ton of good QBs in this league. Here's who they have to go up against:

MSU- Lewerke
Indiana- Lagow/Ramsey
PSU- McSorley
Rutgers- Bolin
Minnesota- Rhoda
Maryland- Bortenschalger (3rd string)
Wisconsin- Hornibrook
OSU- Barrett

Outside of McSorley (kinda) and Barrett (with his running), what QBs can REALLY challenge a secondary?
