Hopefully Patricia can pull a Jim Schwartz on Trey Flowers

I've seen a few mocks that have White getting picked 2-3 picks before our pick... That said, if he is there and with the way FA looks, I'd for sure make that pick. White and Davis together would be a nice 3 down LB combo...

I looked at several mocks and basically they had him from 8-15. But he's been moving up. So he could be in play. Maybe depends how many QB's get drafted before us..

Edit: CBS has him at 24.

Idk about Flowers. I don't get all the hype. Sure, he's a decent DE and he obviously fits our D because of Fat Matt, but how much we paying this guy? He's probably getting paid but it's not like he's some type of sack artist. Does he excel in other areas like stopping the run? Pressure? I'm just wondering....

From all accounts that I've read he's not very flashy but is constantly disrupting the backfield. There are enough edge guys available that we shouldn't have to set a record for paying him.

I don't know. He's rated the #3 FA and he's only 25. He's going to have a bunch of options. If the Lions want him they are going to have to overpay since there will likely be some good teams or destinations that will likely make him an offer.

Unlike our current star DE who gets sacks but not a lot of pressure, Flowers actually disrupts opposing QBs quite often. Would it be so bad to overpay him and stretch it over a long contract? Him being 25 means even a 6 year deal could easily be one he plays out. And it would be a lot easier to give him big money up front if we can lower the cap hit by putting non-guaranteed money at the back end.

Any quality pass-rusher is going to cost a LOT of money. But someone who already knows the system, who fits anywhere, and really produces is exactly the kind worth betting on.

Flowers isnt an Edge. Hes a 3-4 DE...basically an upgrade for Hand and youd be making Hand your rotational guy and sub for Ashawn on 3rd downs. You cant break the bank for him with all the holes we have imo. 3-4 OLB true edge rusher is more important. There are a lot of them in FA...Ford you probably have to overpay for, i dont think hes worth it and more than likely staying in KC. But can you get a guy like Fowler for under 10 mil a year?

So Devin White it is? I'd be all for that

Right now im on the White or either of the 2 CBs train. Ferrill is an option at OLB. You get 2 of the ILB, OLB and CB holes filled in the first 2 picks and ill be happy.

White/Ferguson
Ferrill/Bush
Greedy/Ferguson
any of these combos and ill bow down to Quin.

Theres a 50/50 chance he goes RG/TE in rds 1 and 2.

But we'll need to overpay for any player to be honest. It's Detroit lol. And I don't feel comfortable throwing a ton of money at a guy like Flowers. Him and Okwara are similar type players, no? If we're going to pay, I'd rather see them go after a guy like Demarcus Lawrence.
And what about Hand? Maybe he could become a starter? He was a monster as a rookie and he's only going to get better. I guess you can't have a shortage of DLinemen tho lol.

I don't see them going RG early. Crosby is an option there and Wiggins maybe. Definitely drafting one though...
I can't see a TE going in the 1st. Even if it's probably the weakest group on the team. Still a major need but the TE class runs deep with solid players. They can get a good one like a Todd Sweeny out of Boston College maybe? I like him and he should be available later on in the draft.
