This years NFL Draft looks to be WR heavy

Im not a draft guru by any means, but it appears to me that there are a lot of talented WR going Pro this year, especially underclassmen.

I know its an old joke around here that the Lions will draft a WR in the first round, but with Calvin either being gone, or very close to being done as a Lion, it would make sense to draft a WR (or two) in the mid rounds, as they are (sadly) pretty thin at the position outside of Tate...

These are the three guys fresh in my mind, that I would love if the Lions were able to get. (1 of them - not all three lol)

Will Fuller (ND) - Dude is fast as shit and reminds me of a Deshaun Jackson minus all the Bullshit. (RD 2 if hes still there...)

Corey Davis (WMU) - Im a western Alum, so I may be a bit biased, but this dude can flat out ball. He reminds me of a bigger, more athletic Greg Jennings... (RD 3 or 4)

Michael Thomas (OSU) - Hes a big solid possession receiver, ala Alshon Jeffrey (RD 2 if hes still there...)

It is really draft heavy, which is why we can't afford to take a 1st round WR, even though a lot of people are in love with Treadwell.

You can get an above average WR in the 3rd or 4th round this year. Gotta put those early picks where they count most, like D-Line.

I'd take Fuller in the 2nd in a fuckin heartbeat. Shit, if we're drafting 15th.......id take Fuller in the 1st!! (As long as we had a decent FA OL signed)

Im taking Nkemdiche at 15. Only way I take a WR early is if Treadwell falls to 15. Other than that...I probably wait until rd 3 to the OPs point....its a deep draft for WR.

If Nkemdiche is there at 15, I will lose my shit. I would lose it even worse if they didn't take him.

I know he's had some issues with the recent arrest. Big whoopty fucking do. The kid is real. I'd love to have him.

Would love A'Shawn Robinson more though.

Lot's of good interior defensive linemen to pick from this year. A guy like Hassan Ridgeway might be there in the 3rd for us. Get me two of those big boys in the first three rounds. I want a rebuild of power defensive football.

1st round A'Shawn Robinson
2nd Round Carl Nassib
3rd round Hassan Ridgeway

4th round and on, I don't care who you take. We get a bunch of compensatory picks this year, so go get a WR, RT, CB... whatever you like. But you get me that top three and I'm getting me a Lions tattoo.

Kind of surprised I don't have one yet to be honest.

No to Nkemdiche. Dude is a walking train wreck as is his brother. We are talking Titus Young level crazy here. He jumped out a hotel window after smoking fake weed and his Twitter makes him sound like a huge druggy. No thank you. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just get a real bad feeling with him.

Should be like a 3rd rd comp pick for Suh, No? Does have something to do with the replacement you get which was Ngata. Statistically both had down years. Will be interesting to see what we get. Im hoping 3rd...but I realize that's pretty high for a comp pick.

Comp picks are based on the amount of money the new team paid for your old player.

Suh got, at the time, the highest contract in history. We should get a 3rd rounder easily. I don't think you can get a 2nd rounder, but if it was possible, we should get that instead.

Ngata doesn't count for anything, he was traded, not signed.

Ah yes....so they would use Walker as the "replacement" and he only made like 1.5 mil. We should get NEs pick in rd1 lol.

Given that we already know the signing of Brandon Albert would have brought in a 3rd round pick if it hadn't evened out, and his signing was about half of what they gave Suh, we should get the Titans #1 overall pick... but I think 3rd round is the highest they go.

Treadwell and $10M gets you a #1 WR a top flight FA LT and an what should be a significant improvement at RT in Reiff. Megatron walks though :(

Not in favor.

This team can be rebuilt the way it needs to be without giving up on Calvin.

He's not done, he's just expensive, and in an offense going in the right direction, he's worth it.

3 positions covered for the price of one. Including LT which to me is the no. 1 priority. We do get $9M of Suh off the books though too.

I would argue that it's likely three positions covered with three players who won't add up to what one Calvin Johnson is. To me, at best, it's a lateral move, but it's probably a downgrade for the sake of signing people.

We need a DT. We need a RT/LT. We need a.... nope that's it.

We have LBs. We have safeties. We have a QB and receivers, and RBs, and TE's galore.

We "need" two positions, and we need three of them total. We can get that from the draft. We will get compensatory picks for Suh and Fairley. We have 8 picks. We have something like $16MM (if I recall correctly) in cap room.

Our goal should be to accumulate talent, not lose the top talent we have.

That's my opinion.

Agree with alot of this. Except I'll add that we need a starting corner. And need a starting safety if we can't resign quddus. Upgrade at de would help.

I'm torn on the calvin decision. At 23 mil or whatever. ..that's so much money. Don't want to see him go. ...im hoping he takes a pay cut.
