Three Teams Vying For Cuban Shortstop Guerrero

The MLBtraderumors article Alex posted claims that the Dodgers' signing is pre-mature and false. He's legally not even allowed to sign yet, so nothing is set in stone. Detroit needs to top that offer. only $5 million or less for a very good professional shortstop?

Yeah, in Cuba. Saying he's very good is a bit of a stretch.

Nobody is very good or even good until they prove it at MLB level.

That said, if it's within reason, take a shot at landing him, it's not like we never wasted any money before on players who didn't pan out.

no kidding. Puig, Cepedes & Darvish are all recent foreign signings that the Tigers missed out on. The Tigers need a SS and it appears that this guy is a pretty good one.

Cespedes is batting .227 with an OPS just north of .700. He's the new Adam Dunn.
