If you are a responsible father, thank you. Single parenthood is a first class ticket to poverty and all the ills that go with it, personal and societal. We've really lost our way, people. No stigma, no taboos, very little expectation. Not good.

Not everyone in the poverty group want to be there unlike what most of you right wingers believe.. A lot of them would like to get out and make a real wage like all of you.. I have no idea what the answer is but it is not fear and hate like the right always uses.. Here is some data on on poor people... There are a lot of different groups on welfare or some form of assistance.. There are millions of families who need help from time to time.. But the facts are most people on the right just want to drive by these people and just say "Oh well Fuck those people".. Everyone deserves a chance in one form or another except harden criminals...

Right wingers? You know Bob, you're an idiot. You make it sound like conservatives don't give a shit about anyone else. One thing I learned a long time ago, some men are bad, some are good. Some women are bad, some are good. Some conservatives are good and some are bad. And some libs are good and some are bad.

oh look, the buckeye troll is now trolling the politics board as well.

how cute.

maybe not....but the overwhelming majority is because of their own decisions

two people married with one child both working minimum wage jobs make 60% over the poverty level

vs.

one single mom with child and the one single dad working minimum wage job will both be under the poverty level when living seperately.

I think thats the point of the OP. Its self inflicted

Yeah maybe the word 'Right wingers was a tad harsh" If you stop being so sensitive maybe I will. LOL .. But if you listen to the two groups... Left and right one group does sound a tad harsher towards some groups then the other one...I never said that all groups don't have some good and bad people.. Nothing is going to change.. Some people on here are really conservative some are moderate, and some are liberal.. I try and fall between moderate and liberal.. But when you have one party the republicans wanting Obama to fail you can't be feel a tad bitter toward the far right wingers of the republican party..

Pay your damn bet and you feel better....

Your observation is not remotely close to my point or the point of the article. When single mothers are popping out babies, it's a ticket to poverty. That is the point and it has nothing to do with whether one wants to be there. It just is. The statistics are overwhelming.

Its not about failing. Understand he's my President as much as he is yours. Is it any different when Bush was in office? Did the Libs want Bush to fail?

The point being, is the conservatives are saying he failed, not that they wanted him to because whatever he does it effects us all.

It's pretty classy that you take time to thank all the "responsible fathers" out there before posting the article though.

On behalf of all the "responsible fathers" out there, Thank you! And on behalf of all the "responsible mothers" out there who raised their kids to be Consultants, Attorneys and Business Executives all the while obtaining a Masters degree and then a Doctoral degree as a single parent again .... Thank you!

Because it really is sad these days, what with all these "deadbeat dads" out there who are encouraged by this welfare state of ours to abandon their children just for fun. What is this country coming to, damn it?!

The article had a headline. Perhaps you missed it. Or perhaps you didn't actually click through? In any case, Vic, my thanks extend to you as well. Your little guy is obviously loved, well cared for and has as a bright future as is possible in Generation whatever. Unfortunately, he is an increasingly rare breed.

I submit that the Democrats have created and maintained a dependent class of people and leveraged that dependency to remain in office, so someone explain the "compassion" of that strategy.

I never wanted Bush to fail but even a person on the right should know that the Republicans have filibuster Obama more the the democrats did. And when the dem's questioned Bush we were called unpatriotic and told to step aside because Bush was going to ram things through anyway..

Q: How many Democrats does it take to change a lightbulb?

Answer: Every person has a role, no matter how great or how small, in changing that light bulb.

Q: How many Republicans does it take to change a light bulb?

A: The light bulb can never be changed until it decides to change itself.

That just tells me they're both the same. So don't make it sound like one side is any better or worse than the other. You're doing the same thing.
