I know this is off topic but it got me to thinking the best nickname ever, Mike Hargrove - The Human Rain Delay.

1st thing I think of, when ever I hear his name. lol the guy could hit thou.

Sure could. We could use a guy like him to leadoff he knew how to take a walk. It'd take awhile but he'd get it done :)

Imagine Hargrove batting vs who is quite likely to be still currently the sloooowest pitcher in MLB, Josh Beckett, who topped the WSJ's "SLOTH" index, (2010) "clocking" in @ an average of almost 15 seconds between receiving the ball from his catcher, and delivering his next pitch, assuming, of course, that there are no other distractions, such as a known speedy base stealer on first. You could go out to the store when Hargrove came up to the plate, and buy another six-pack, come back home, and maybe see Hargrove taking a trot to 1B on a BB.

Quite unsurprisingly, our own Tigers SP, Justin Verlander came in with the 5th fastest.

However, I was VERY surprised that ex-Indians SP, Jake Westbrook, was somewhat further down the list of the slowest, always thought that he was the slowest pitcher that I had ever seen, but of course, since he pitched for a team in our division, I saw him pitch more than most of the others above him, except for Greinke and Tubbathia....haha!!

:)

I always thought Fernando Rodney was really slow once a runner got on base, horribly slow in fact.

Also, that's a bit old so i wonder where Fister would be. He seems to have a quick delivery.

Rafael Bentancourt is slower than molasses too. If I remember correctly, they had to put him on a clock a couple years ago because he was taking so long.

Verlander is fast, seems like Fister works pretty quick too

;) you liked that Dick Stuart reference.

Tigers pitchers that are or were slow, rodney, galarraga, Penny.

I still like Doug "Fist of Fury" Fister.

And in reference to AJ above, Austin "No Action" Jackson. I like this one.
