We've gots us a minor league cheater.

The Detroit Tigers say minor league right-hander Cesar Carrillo has been suspended 100 games for violating baseball's minor league drug prevention and treatment program.

The team posted a release on its website Friday, saying the commissioner's office announced the suspension.

Carrillo's suspension is effective at the start of the season. He is currently on the roster of Erie, which is Detroit's Double-A affiliate.

Carrillo's name was included in a Miami New Times report earlier this year, when the alternative weekly newspaper said it had acquired records from a Florida clinic the paper said sold performance-enhancing drugs.

Btw, next time put minor league in the title, don't freak me out.

The espn article made a point of describing carillo as a "Good friend of Ryan Braun".

I found that funny.

Amazing that someone would get caught 2x nowadays. You'd think once would be enough.

I don't blame any of these guys for trying anything they can to make it to the bigs. They all have a winning lotto ticket right in front of them. If you aren't making it why not take the risk?

Exactly the reason the penalties need to be 1 year for first offense, 2 years for second, and lifetime ban for the third. or maybe even a lifetime ban for the 2nd. lets see how many people wanna cheat with those penalties.

1st offense should be an automatic appeal to be fair in case of a false positive, but assuming the appeal fails, it should be a voided contract.

Most of those guys don't have the same dream/outlook on the game as we (fans who can only dream) do, about standing on a field where a legend once played, or taking your cuts against a future HOF pitcher, or being mobbed at home plate by your teammates after getting a walk off hit. Most of these guys only give a shit about money, they don't mind sitting out 50 or 100 games, but void the contract and take the green away....there will be a line 3 blocks long to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge.

They'll still get paid by someone else.
