A CHANGE IN STRATEGY.
Totally Tigers
There are only 2 people who have a more daunting task than Scott Harris? attempt to rebuild the Tigers.
The heads of ticket sales and marketing.
Their jobs will be the most challenging since the end of 2003 when the team lost 119 games.
What exactly do they have to sell?
Other than Riley Greene, there?s really nothing else.
There are no promising rookies coming up. The buzz surrounding Spencer Torkelson is all gone and replaced with skepticism.
Miguel Cabrera is a shadow of the man he used to be and he won?t even be playing that much. He broke records last year which held fan interest but there?s nothing other than his retirement this year.
Even Lou Whitaker?s jersey number retirement was last year.
What?s ironic is that the Tigers made a lot of significant changes since the end of last season. The problem is that none of them will sell tickets.
No one?s coming to Comerica to watch Scott Harris or Dr. Lund.
And they?re not going to be inspired by the changes to the ballpark dimensions either.
Or by seeing A. J. Hinch who is now already familiar to fans.
This is gonna be one tough sell.
Harris should have thought about that when he decided not to fill in some of the holes with free agents.
