Tigers 2023 Spring Training Thread

The Detroit Tigers may have lost yesterday's game but we're already seeing results from the new mantra about controlling the strike zone.

The 2022 season saw the Tigers dead last in walks. They averaged only 2 walks per game. One player alone missed out on 40 walks just by swinging outside the strike zone on 3-0 counts. No one was getting on base.

Yesterday, the Tigers walked 9 times. Eight of those walks were earned by players not on last year's roster.

Totally Tigers

The Tigers have announced the following game time changes for 2023:

Sat., April 8 vs. Boston - new game time is 4:10 p.m.
Sat., August 5 vs. Tampa Bay ? new game time is 1:10 p.m.

first, Grayson Stadium holds 4,000 people. Selling out isn't a great feat.

Baseball is dying for a lot of reasons. I love the Tigers but decided to cut the cord on my cable knowing that I would no longer have Bally's sports. I'm saving $100 per month. The two biggest problems for baseball are it's too expensive to go to the games and there are too many other entertainment options out there now that attract new/potential fans. Owner and player greed aren't going to lower the cost of baseball, and other entertainment options are probably only going to increase in the future.

There were always rumors that Detroit Tiger fave Victor Martinez wanted to stay in baseball. But after retiring, he started a cattle ranch and a successful horse racing hobby. But now he's back.....

Just not with the Tigers. But there's no snub involved. VMart has joined the Blue Jays as a special advisor. Why the Jays?
