Tigers and MLB 2018 offseason

I wonder if they will try to move Nick during the offseason or wait for the trade deadline.

I always felt like Iggy could have been as good at the plate as he was in the field. I have no insider knowledge but I don't think he worked very hard to improve at the plate. With that being said, I loved watching Iggy in a Tigers uniform on the field.

Of 32 MLB SS with 600 PAs Away of these last 3 years, Iggy was 31st in OBP and OPS.

Defensively, he was 3rd in UZR/150 and tied for 11th in DRS.

Put it all together, and he was/is slightly below average (16-18 range).

If he was on a team full of offensive studs (when we first got him), it is easy enough to overlook his offense. On a team full of offensive duds (current team), his cost/salary is unjustified.

I neither liked nor hated him, but I did think he tended to be a "hot dog". He also has been one to have mental lapses on the base paths (i.e. getting picked off or over running a base).

Tigers Dixon Machado and Jacob Turner both elected Free Agency yesterday.

Machado was DFA'd by Detroit in July and finished out the year with Triple-A Toledo. Turner was DFA'd in August, finishing the year in Toledo as well.

Jordan Zimmermann, Christin Stewart undergo surgery, team says.
Mlive

More surgeries for more Tigers players, terrible medical team and conditioning coaches, this is way too repetitive.

Tigers' Zimmermann, Stewart have core muscle repair surgery.
Detnews

Two more core muscle surgeries to make 4 this year and 8 in the last 4 years which includes Verlander and Cabrera.
What more do the Tigers need to see that an overhaul of their training/conditioning program is long overdue?

I’ve been on board with replacing Rand for several years. I’ve just never seen a team in any sport that have injuries linger like the Tigers the last 5 or so years
