Tigers Hot Stove 2012

You are trying to talk about ruining clubhouse chemistry on a team run by Ozzie Guillen that has moved this guy out of the position he wants to play, and has done nothing but lose games. Why would you expect him to be anything other than unhappy?

I understand what Castellanos is, and I also understand what Peralta and Ramirez are. I'd make that trade.

I have no idea about the validity of the comments, but I remember hearing the clubhouse stuff well before Guillen took over.

I'm not sure you can blame Ozzie for his bad play. His game has just went down hill. It's funny in Miami, they spent all this money, even a thought they might get Pujols or Fielder and now they're selling, lol.

I bet Reyes feels good, he signs with Miami, they make other moves and now they trade them all and he's stuck, lol.

Didn't he basically get Freddie Gonzales fired?
Didn't Freddie pretty much deserve to get canned though?

I'm not saying Hanley is acting productively or helping himself in any way, but I get it. The guy has boatloads of talent, but he's been unhappy for a while. He needs a change of scenery in the worst way. I've seen many people in many walks of life that handle things this same way. They have tons of talent, but can go off the rails if they aren't challenged, aren't seeing success, or aren't feeling appreciated. It's apparent that he's not getting any of that in Miami these last few years.

I keep seeing the Red Sox mentioned, and I thik that'd be a horrible spot for him to land. Valentine is terrible and that team is falling apart at the seams. If Hanley is gonna be worth a damn again, he needs to be happy with his teammates and have a strong manager that can handle egos. I think we fit that perfectly. Hanley wouldn't need to be the stud player here. JV, Fielder and Miggy to a lesser degree would get all the publicity and he could just play on a winning team that's in the hunt for a World Series.

I'm not blaming Ozzie for Hanley's play, I'm blaming Hanley, but you can't deny that Ozzie and that organization are the reason that he's pouting. When you lose, you get pushed out of your position, and you get a loudmouth manager to boot, it's tough to show up and give it your all every night. You gotta look at the whole situation here, he isn't playing for money, he isn't seeing any hope of winning, and he doesn't like the situation he's in. What else do you expect to happen?

There are some guys who give it their all regardless of the situation, but it's ridiculous to believe everybody is that way. Hanley is clearly one who pouts, who has a big ego, and who quits when it gets unpleasant. That doesn't mean that he doesn't have talent or can't be as successful as he's been in the past in a new environment though.

But what makes anyone want to trade for him? That he won't pout in his new place? He wasn't so hot last season when he was at SS and there was no ozzie. With the way he's been hitting, I wouldn't offer a top prospect. You can't just assume a new place will help.

That's pretty much the argument, Mitch. The general consensus I've read in trade rumors are that many GMs think he would benefit greatly from a change of scenery. I tend to agree with that. I'm not dumb enough to think that's the absolute right answer to the question though. The answer is nobody knows unless/until it actually happens. I just tend to favor the multi-year track record of the MLB player over the hottest new prospect on our radar, ya know?

I know Miami and they'd want the world for him. He isn't worth a top prospect. Send them Andy Oliver and Iorg and get it done.

Just think in 4-5 years we might get a chance to get Giancarlo Stanton. You know the Marlins will trade him.

I wonder if this means we'll go after a Greinke/Hamels/Haren/Peavy type this offseason.

"The Tigers view Anibal Sanchez as a true rental player, Knobler writes (all Twitter links). They see the right-hander as a middle-of-the-rotation starter, but felt they didn’t have a strong chance of acquiring a true top-of-the-rotation starter this summer. The Tigers proposed the trade for Sanchez and Omar Infante last week."

Go after one of them, keep Sanchez and deal Porcello for an OF. Team solved.

Pretty much. I think the hope is that Castellanos becomes that stud OF though. Either way, it'd be nice to have a legit outfield of Castellanos/AJax/other from SP trade or to have some rotation flexibility.

Payroll is going to be huge under my scenario.
