Interesting indeed. I'm not sure what the Padres could expect in return as he'd been good when healthy but healthy is subjective for him.

He might be worse actually. It's scary how bad of outfielders he and Young are (and I'm pretty close to throwing Boesch in that category as well).

That being said, If it means an outfield of Jackson, Dirks, Boeach/Berry, with Quentin as a DH, I think its a positive move. He is a better hitter than Young or Boesch.

And the Tigers have this OF/2b in the minors right now that is streaky, but can really hit at times. Maybe the Padres would take a flyer?

Delmon is even worse when you factor in the fact he plays so damn deep and anything from shadow to a medium fly ball is a hit.

the only difference between young and quentin is that the latter actually knows how to take a walk. if we can cut young and slot quentin in at DH, id probably be ok with it as long as we also didnt give up too much in trade but he's another guy whose defense is so god-awful that it nearly negates his offense. he should NEVER see the field.


the bigger question is why dombrowski CONTINUES to target players what are completely one-sided when our awful defense is costing us games. not to mention targeting a guy who has played in all of twelve fucking games this season after knee surgery and has had only one great season, 4 years ago.

Quentin is a DL trip waiting to happen, not even worth wasting time on.


Even without Young we have 4 outfielders we can rotate in and out with the DH in Ajax, Boesch, Dirks, and Berry.

Padres are going to want Brantly in my opinion unless they have a good catcher in their system... The have Hundley and Baker and neither can hit... And CQ is to injury prone he can't run and he is a terrible fielder.. Make sense DD is targeting him.. Might as well get another turtle on the club...
