Tigers looking at Kerry Wood

Makes you wonder how good he will be, look at 2010 in 23 games with Cleveland posting a 6.30 ERA, then goes to the Yankees and in 24 games posts a .069 ERA.

2011 with the Cubs was not bad at 3.35 in 51 I.P., but I don't think I'd call him "money".

Again it seems like the Tigers are looking to plug the small holes before the big ones, but at least Wood won't cost us a top prospect(s) like Garza would have.

just a real bad idea,14 times in 13 years on the disabled list. put a fork in him, he's done, at any price.

If anyone is injury prone its Kerry Woods. On here I see so many of you wanting to stay away from much better but more expensive players because of 1-2 injuries. Now you want Kerry Wood, the poster child of injuries. I don't care how cheap he KS since he takes a roster spot, we don't need this dude.

I would pass. This guy can't stay healthy and he would be a waste of money.

I'd buy that argument if he was going to be your setup man or closer, but he wouldn't be here. Coke is the long reliever, so Wood would basically be a spot reliever with the ability to setup or close out games if he's healthy. Seems like a great fit here to me. You could make the argument that we could just throw less cash at Zumaya for the same role, but I think Zumaya's injuries have been more severe and predictable than even Wood's have, plus Wood has been better when he's been healthy.

Coke, Dotel, Benoit, Valverde.

Where do we need Wood?

And since when is Coke the long man?

Fact is I'd rather try Zumaya than Wood, but we don't need either, we need a guy who can eat innings, and that aint Kerry fuckin Wood.

Tigers would look good sporting some Wood.

Tigers will have couple of knotheads coaching @ 3B and leaning on the dugout railing during games, so they "wood" have to suffice, I guess.

:)

Why wouldn't he be? He's shown he can go several innings as a starter and he gets lefties and righties out.

According to David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com, the Cubs have re-signed reliever Kerry Wood.
The deal was announced to an "insane ovation" at Cubs Convention on Friday afternoon. Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the contract is worth $3 million with a club option for 2013. Wood, 34, made $1.5 million last season while posting a 3.35 ERA and 57/21 K/BB ratio over 51 innings.

Imagine what it would be like for the Cubbies and their fans, if one of their teams was to finally win a World Series between now and the end of this decade?

???

Probably something like it would be like here in SE MI, IF the Lions were to win a Superbowl during the same time-frame...lol.

;)

But considering that it might be quite cold and even snowing on that marvelous and miraculous Sunday afternoon in perhaps mid-February? I would imagine that the potential weather conditions could very well be a factor in preventing the outdoor celebrating from getting just a little bit too out of hand...haha!!
