Nunez was the top ranked shortrstop in the system with glove arm and range. stolen bases. Hitting was lacking. Last I read he had an ankle injury.
As for now top 3 shortstops would be Dixon Machado, Brandon Loy, and Eugenio Suarez. As with nunez, the bat remains the question; contact, plate discipline, and pitch recognition.

Yes unless they offer back for 25k or if they decline the offer back the Yanks can send them to minors at that point. They might have to pass waivers as well.

Yeah, I think I said that. Except if they offer player back the former team declines and they clear waivers, they aren't obligated to stay up on the big league club.

Depends on how the Pirates do. If they fail, they just might ride it out with him. Of course the tigers could not accept him back. He can go to the minors with Detroit but I believe he'd have to be on the 40. And since he was originally left off they might not want him back.
