There aren't many home-and-home series in baseball, but the Tigers and Pirates have a bit of a history with it. Tonight is the first of two games in Pittsburgh after the teams split a pair in Detroit on Monday and Tuesday. ... Lefty ace Francisco Liriano was scheduled to start for the Pirates today, but he was scratched with an injured hamstring. Vogelsong was the odd man out of the rotation at the end of spring training. He relieved Liriano on Friday, putting him on turn to start today. In two innings of relief, he gave up two runs, one earned.

CF Cameron Maybin went 0-for-4 for Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday. In five rehab games between Toledo and Class A Lakeland, Maybin is hitting .176. He has been sidelined since March 25 with a left wrist fracture.
