-The Tigers dropped the series opener in Kansas City on Tuesday, 8-6. Detroit had its chances, but came up empty too often with the bases loaded. The Royals -- defending World Series champs -- claim the early lead in the American League Central.
-Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez now has 999 career RBIs. When he reaches 1,000, he will be the fifth Venezuelan-born player to do so. That lists includes Miguel Cabrera and Magglio Ordonez. Martinez says he's OK after getting hit by a pitch in last night's game.
-The Tigers are now 3-3 on this road trip, which concludes with two more games in Kansas City.

- McCann update: hitting in the cage, no word yet on specific day of return, Take your time James, Salty is winning and keeping the Tigers in games.
- Maybin update: The Tigers made a procedural move today with outfielder Cameron Maybin, recalling his injury rehab assignment. The Tigers want any swelling or soreness in his left wrist from the latest hit by pitch to subside before Maybin continues his rehab assignment.
