Tigers trade for gold glove catcher

Barnhart at the plate had been relativity similar but further as a LH hitter he's at his best vs RHP. Hasse only one year was much better vs LHP. I doubt they platoon them like that but probably should. They were both on the positive side at defense.

With our young pitching staff that's really all we need. Good defense and pitch framing. If the guy can contribute a little offense then it's a home run signing. I feel he'll be our starter. Maybe 60/40 to 70/30 split with Haase. I'm betting Haase will still get enough abs playing OF and DH.

you will be reported to a MOD for giving Al credit for a move.

I've never taken that lazy approach to blame Al for everything. He was given a shit situation and probably made a few mistakes early but hasn't been the pos some here make him out to be.

That's true about Haase playing elsewhere. Forgot about that.

Was getting my Oil changed this morning and since I always wear my Tiger hat some guy starting yapping at me about the Tigers, asked me what I thought about the direction they are going.

I said I like their direction a helluva lot better than the direction the Lions are going! Then he wanted to grumble about Miggy's Contract. I said I was looking forward to him getting to that 3,000 hit milestone next year. I tend not to bash the Tigers nearly as much as I do the Lions. The Lions piss me off.

The Reds were pretty smart. They signed him to a 4 year $16M contract but the first 3 years only paid him about $2.75M per year. The Tigers are on the hook for $8.25M

Those early mistakes were for at least 2 years running maybe 3, by telling the world he was selling, no GM with a business acumen would ever do that, look at the pennies to the dollar he got in trades and letting players go like Castellanos by saying there was no market for him.
I do think that he has been schooled and then told to tighten up his lips and has become better the last 2 years, but some of this has to do with Hinch and his influence with the FO.

You troll every forum you go to especially the kid in the Lions forum, when you get called out it's a joke, always Mr. Innocent.

I didn't say I was innocent...a joke isn't always innocent. Some people probably thought it was funny...some people (the ones that constantly bash AA) probably got their feelings hurt. :(

Mark Gorosh, is that you?

No question on the terribleness of those moves but he seems to be improving. He's empowering Hinch as well which is a sign of a good leader.

This is huge offseason that will determine his fate and the direction of the team for years to come. This trade seems to signal detroit is ready to make some moves. They managed to sell high on a prospect that struggled horribly at the plate last year. So far he's 1-0 this offseason.
