Tigers (Unofficial) Rotation through ADLS

This looks like what Leyland would do. Would you want Scherzer at Yankee Stadium if Detroit plays NY? I worry about that short porch. If Detroit has homefield, then no problem.

Much like the discussion last night while Scherzer pitched, he is better in a game 2 at Comerica. The 3.66 there is way better than the current 5.30+ on the road. If/when the Tigers start a series on the road I would hope Leyland thinks this through and has Fister as the game 2 starter.

Fister should be pitching in game 2 regardless....he has been the better pitcher.

Starter Scherzer game 2 if at Comerica, if on the road pitch Fister game 2.

Unless the Tigers are considering a 3 man in the ALDS, which I don't think they will, but if they were to you pitch Fister game 2.

In a 4 man, it would be silly not to pitch Scherzer at home rather than one of the bandboxes of the other teams.

It would be pretty dumb to do that if it wouldn't affect his overall start total of the series.

I'd hope Leyland would use a little bit of strategy when setting up the rotation.

I would think a pitcher like Fister would require less rest than a power-pitcher like Max. I *don't* want Max starting a road game, as evidenced by last night and most of the season.

Do you mean starting Fister at home if they somehow get home field? I can see wanting Scherzer to start at home...but if game 2 is on the road I think Fister should definitely start.

2nd one.

We want Scherzer to pitch at Copa due to his FB and HR tendencies.

Whether that means he pitches the 2nd or 3rd game is to be determined.

I like the 2-1-3-4 format. That makes it so winning game one is a bonus (we beat their ace with our #2).

I only like that format when the other teams #1 is better than my teams #1.

When your #1 is the best pitcher in baseball, you pitch him in game 1.

If you can throw out your best pitcher and give your team a great chance to beat their best pitcher, it essentially takes their best pitcher out of the series. Than its up to your 2,3,4 to win one game between them (or two in later series).

Problem with the 1-2-3-4 format is that you pretty much have to win game 1. With the 2-1-3-4 more pressure is put on the other team if they are beaten in game 1. God forbid Verlander loses, but we still have to remember that he will mess up once in a while.

We really only need 3 starters in the ALDS, being two off-days are inside it and Verlander could start on shorter rest during the playoffs.

The 3rd starter may not be Max. It could be Porcello, depending on the rival team and matchup. Either Max or Rick could end-up in the bullpen for the ALDS.

I agree with 3 starters in the ALDS. Not only do I like JV pitching twice, if we go 5 I want Fister going twice.

And as far as Scherzer better at home than on the road, I still want Fister as the number two.
