No Cabrera today.

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers have an off-day scheduled for Monday. Miguel Cabrera will get two of them in a row.

Cabrera is not in the starting lineup for the game today against the Los Angeles Angels. He has started each of the first 126 games this season, but he has been battling a right ankle injury that forced him out of the game early Thursday.

Cabrera was the designated hitter for the Tigers on Friday and Saturday but was clearly bothered by the injury. The Tigers are hopeful that two full days of rest will allow him to return to play third base Tuesday night in Kansas City.

"What's best for Miguel Cabrera is best for the Detroit Tigers," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Sunday morning before ultimately deciding to leave Cabrera off the lineup card.

Andy Dirks will bat in the third spot for the Tigers and start in left field. Delmon Young will be the designated hitter and bat fifth.

Max Scherzer (13-6, 4.27 ERA) will start for the Tigers. He is 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA in two career starts against the Angels.

Right-hander Ervin Santana (7-10, 5.46 ERA) will start for the Angels. Prince Fielder is 3-for-4 with a home run against Santana. [Posted by Chris Iott | [email protected] August 26, 2012, 11:08 AM]

Scherzer finally gets a K, and out of the inning, after the 3 hits he gave up all came with 2 strikes.

Angles lead 1-0, and it feels lucky to only be 1 run down.

Oh, Fuck You Vernon Wells.....

So that's what good corner OF'ers look like....

Nice play.
Im surprised rod didn't say Omar needs to do a few more reps in the weight room or something like that.

DY with a lead off double in the 2nd. DY's heating up. And Rod makes fun of his short. choppy steps. Mario chips in and says he looks like Fred Flintstone trying to start the car.

Nice strike zone Emmels....

Dumb fuck calls a strike on first pitch to Boesch, 6 inches off the plate, calls a ball on the next pitch, clearly in the strike zone.

I'm so tired of umpires this season...

Delmon getting hot again.

Funny that rod and Mario are making fun of DY.

Yeah, WTF is with that....he sucks all year then the last 35-40 games actually remembers how to plays slightly above mediocre.

He should just be on the 60 day DL until August 15th every season.

Isn't that what everyone wanted to do with Raburn?

BB walks and Jhonny battles off a few pitches before flying out to deep center. Deep enough that DY can easily tag up and get to 3rd. Baker flies out on the 1st pitch....inning over.

Yeah, except Raburn was just until July.

Raburn is a second-half hitter, Delmon is a last 40 games hitter. (I'm hoping)
