Tigers vs. angels Game Thread July 16

Valverde pitching,

pinch hitter callaspo to ground out to Peralta,

trout strikes out swinging 93/94 belt high fastballs,

dirty f'ker hunter bunts down third, Miguel throws it off first base and hunter to second,

pujols flys to Jackson,

Tigers win 8 - 6,

FU anaheim angels,

Tigers Victory Cigar.

i hate espn. aside from the recap, all of the stores attached to the site news about the game tonight are about fucking trout. WHO FUCKING CARES.

That is the same thing that my Indians buddy was saying. He wanted at least one highlight from a 1 run game.

He is having an MVP type year (so far) and he is a 20 year old rookie. It's a pretty big deal. I can't remember the last time somene this young played this well. If he was a Tiger I doubt anybody would complain about it. Actually, he could have been a Tiger if they would have drafted him vs. Turner. Too bad.

I think the point he's making is not who cares period, just who cares after last nights game.

Mike Trout was not the story last night. The fact the Tigers are hot and have won 8 of 9 should have been.

Well QB was the better rookie in that game. Took all the shine from Trout on his Nationally televised game. Gotta love it

Every game the Tigers are shown on Espn or foxsports they go on mute for these reasons, the game becomes the 4/5/6th important topic and the spin seems to go to another team or player instead of what the Tigers did, win, or how well they played in a recent stretch 8 of 9,
Dan and Jim are always on for me instead,

It wouldn't matter... if he WAS a Tiger then you would hear nothing at all about him, just as you hear nothing of Cabrera, or Fielder, or Verlander really. Doesn't matter how great a player is if they are a Tiger, and it seemingly never has.

just a bunch of babbling f'ks for the most part, the best, imo, they have is Tim Kurkjian and he doesn't do play by play.

pretty accurate imo, even before the game, they had kurkjian talking about Trout, and he said Kaline was the last player with his numbers as a 20 year old, then the guys in the booth, ravech and the goofball kruk, did not pick up on it, ignoring Kaline.

It's a joke that people actually think like this.

That's just not true. I listen to ESPN radio almost all day every work day. Last year during the 2nd half if they were talking baseball and post season awards JV was mentioned every day (as well as he should have). The Angels and Washington aren't very popular teams (in mainstream media) and both Harper and Trout are getting a lot of deserved media attention. If either were a Tiger they would be getting just as much pub.

I'm not so sure. JV because he has all the recent awards. But unless its Rod Allen or one of us, Miggy gets talked about very little for being the ultimate player.

Why, because YOU don't feel that way? I am 34, have been a Tiger fan all my life, and it has been this way forever. Even JV winning all the awards last year, he did not get near as much slob as if it would have been someone from the Sox, Yanks, Rangers, or Angels. And, as far as the radio, that may be different, idk...I do not really listen to the radio.

When I listen to MLB Home Plate, the Tigers are a frequent topic. And in the past, when a Tiger takes center stage, they get recognition. Cabrera was a constant presence on the screen last season, as was the Tigers' team in general. How many times have they been on FOX recently? I don't subscribe to the notion that the Tigers are intentionally snubbed any more than any other team not called the Yankees.

And, talking about the kid is one thing... continuing to rave about him after they lose a game, is totally another. They do not feel they talk about him enough everyday on ESPN as it is? What about Miguel who constantly puts up MVP numbers? Why don't they slurp on him? If he was a Yank, we would hear non-stop Miguel talk. I guess it doesn't matter. As long as they keep bringing results like they have been then I will be perfectly happy!

No contest between Trout and QB of course. But when one shines for a night, ESPN would be wise to talk about the kid that got it done, even if just for a moment.
