LAKELAND, Fla. -- Doug Fister will make his final Grapefruit League start of the spring when the Detroit Tigers play the Houston Astros today at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The Tigers also have a split-squad team playing a road game against the New York Mets today in Port St. Lucie.

Fister is 3-0 with a 2.03 ERA this spring but missed his last start due to a sore middle finger that flared up March 23 in a start against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Detroit Tigers outfielder Brennan Boesch was a late scratch from Sunday's split-squad game against the Houston Astros due to neck spasms.

He was removed for precautionary reasons and replaced by minor league outfielder Michael Rockett in right field. Jhonny Peralta will bat second.

Boesch said he tweaked his neck during a batting practice session Sunday morning.

"It happened during a swing this morning," Boesch said. "It's only spring training, so I'm not trying to be hero."

He is listed day-to-day, but Boesch said he will be in Monday's lineup against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.

It's the second game this spring that Boesch has been scratched due a minor injury. He was removed March 14 due to general soreness.
