let me ackowledge the growth in Alex Lange..I am not a huge Lange guy..but I tip my cap to the improvement..Fetter is like a pitching shaman..

Matt Manning's slider had the sharpness of a feather today.

Matt Manning threw 80 pitches he got 3 swing and misses..he threw 45 FB they swung and missed 2X ..they put 5 2S in play.. at an everage EV of 98.2 MPH..Matt Manning is a WIP..to say the least.

Why do I love Hinch and Fetter..because they made Manning go out there for more..hoping he could make in game adjustments and show some growth..plus..they have obviously been working on things and they wanted to see if he could apply them..this is how young players get better..

Before idiotic panic sets in..Chris Fetter understand the issues with Matt Manning..its mechanical..and mental..its gonna be a process..the one thing I promise..that slider sucks..the shape sucks..the sharpness sucks..the depth sucks..its not athletic..or useable.

The FB can be great..and there's so much more velocity..today was about as bad..as he can throw..zero command..or execution..but..as we say..player development is never linear..days like today..well..expect more of them.

Notoriously publicity-shy Detroit Tigers' Miguel Cabrera was making the rounds of radio shows yesterday. What was notable was his shout-out to Manager A. J. Hinch in his opening statement. Said he really appreciated how Hinch works and has allowed him to play and enjoy the game.

In very early negotiations, MLB has suggested a change to the MLBPA's issue of team control in which organizations tend to get the players' best years for the least amount of salary. It would allow all players to become free agents at the age of 29.5 (born before July 1st).

If applied today, the Detroit Tigers would lose Niko Goodrum and Jonathan Schoop. There are a couple others but their contracts expire after this year anyway. There are few details about how such a plan would operate and if it would apply to any players over the age of 30.

That can't be how it is going to work. My guess is it allows all players that are still under team control (still in arb years), not guys that already signed a major league contract. Goodrum would qualify but not Schoop.
