The Detroit Tigers acquired minor-league pitcher Michael Mariot from the Philadelphia Phillies in a cash deal on Saturday.

The Tigers are sending ?cash considerations? to the Phillies, which typically reflects a nominal sum.

Mariot, who hasn?t pitched in the big leagues since 2016, will likely provide depth at Triple-A Toledo.

The 33-year-old was drafted by the Kansas City Royals out of the University of Nebraska in 2010.

He pitched briefly for the Royals in 2014 and 2015 before being selected off waivers by the Phillies after the 2015 season.

He?s also spent time in the minor-league systems of the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds and Washington Nationals.

Mariot has started 11 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2022, posting a 4.64 ERA in 52 1/3 innings with 21 walks and 36 strikeouts.

If anyone can help this new guy like everyone else on the Tigers staff and bullpen it is Fetters.

The Tigers are expecting several players to return from the IL within the next few weeks. Added to that, Riley Greene is progressing and will make his debut probably within the next month.

As a result, Detroit will have to make some roster moves and send some players down as others return.

Fetters is amazing. Just ask Michigan?s pitchers . Had. 7 plus era this year. They were fabulous thr year they went to the World Series final in 2019.

I don't know much about UM baseball, but maybe the players they had in 2019 were just better than the guys they have now?

Pitchers for sure. Hitters the 2022 team I think was better.
