Tigers vs Bluejays game Thread August 23rd

Very nice win, too bad JV didn't get the W. Now it's time to beat up some Angels. Hope Miggy is OK to DH at the very least.

I'm still in shock DY beat out that DP, just catching highlights now, AJ actauly dove for a ball? WOW!

any update on Miggy?

Berry is a weapon late in the game as a pinch runner, is wheels won that game for us.

That was an unbelievable play, he caught it in the palm too, it suck to it like velcro.

Nice gut check win... MC with a bad ankle... Fister still hurting... The team has no energy.... JV no run support again... Nice comeback win....

But BB should be playing over baker..

Overall happy to sweep the lousy Jays and stay close to the suxs but C'Mon man the offense better get it'shit together quick teams have been destroying jays pitching and they come in here and hold us down like that is just disgusting. Hell I think they clowned their way into given us more runs in this series than we scored on our own! Rather Disturbing series for the offense against high ERA lousy starters.

I know I was already yelling at DY on the Tv and we all were ready to post that he did it again and then the ball hit a force field and slowed down..It certainly was not DY's wheels...LOL

Leyland says Cabrera's injury didn't seem like a big deal, he seemed fine and the trainers didn't think it was a big deal. Talked about DHing him.

It's that ankle that's been bagging him, he might DH tomorrow night, but I wouldn't be surprised if they sat him down for a game.

As long as he can bat....that's all that matters. Couldn't watch the game today...I was very worried it was a hammy. I was actually glad to hear it was his ankle. I know he had an ankle issue earlier this year too.

I said this to someone after he badly misplayed the ball in left field the other day (that went over his head). He's not a great player by any means, but he brings something to this team we desperatley need. And that's the ability to be a pinch runner and steal second when everyone knows you are going to try and steal second. AJ can't even do that. He needs to be on this roster.

Johnny2x thanks for posting the game thread, I thought I could get back in time but didn't.

Verlander walked only two and struck out 12 to regain the major-league lead in strikeouts (192), surpassing teammate Max Scherzer (186). It's the fourth start this season he's struck out nine-plus batters.

Verlander didn't enter in the 10th, giving him his third straight no decision -- a first in his career.

Verlander ranks 40th in run support in the American League -- receiving slightly more than 3.5 runs per start. For comparison sake, Rick Porcello and Max Scherzer both average five-plus runs.

Verlander took sole possession of fifth place in the Tigers' record books with 1,407 career strikeouts passing Jim Bunning with 1406. Verlander now trails Mickey Lolich, Jack Morris, Hal Newhouser and Tommy Bridges.

Justin Verlander induced 24 swings-and-misses in his start today. That ties a career high.

While we may have looked like trash, how great is it that we can get a sweep while looking like trash? Every team in baseball goes through hot and cold streaks, and to win 3 straight with our bats ice cold is fantastic. Obviously I would rather have us raking, but right now we aren't. We aren't the best team in baseball, but say we catch some heat, pass the twatsox, then who knows what could happen once the playoffs roll around.
