Tigers vs. Indians April 11, 2021 Game 9

Grossman is one of the very few good defensive LFers that the Tigers have had in a month of Sundays.

When ya can make a batter's knees bend/buckle on a called strike, then he can also be struck out. K-K-K.

The Tigers have announced the following roster moves:

*Placed 1B/DH Miguel Cabrera on the 10-day injured list with a left biceps strain.
*Selected the contract of INF Renato N??ez to the 40-man roster.

To make room for N??ez on the 40-man roster, RHP Julio Teheran has been transferred to the 60-day IL.

Cleveland 5 - Detroit 2: Could someone please wake up the bats?
Cleveland swept the Detroiters as Jos? Ure?a had another shaky start and the offense slumbered rather than lumber.

The StL Cardinals are the model MLB franchise that the Detroit Tigers needed to emulate after 1968. Rarely finish below .500 in consecutive seasons, and field competitive teams while "rebuilding"...unlike the Tigers who crash and burn when entering a 5-10+ year long rebuild.

they did what the Tigers should have done with Miggy...let him walk.

I think this team is just as bad as last year's model.

Looking forward to another top 3 pick in the 2022 draft

What, this contract extension ain't working out? SOURCE: Cot's Contracts

Signed extension with Detroit 3/28/14
8 years/$248M (2016-23), plus 2024-25 options
16-17:$28M annually, 18-21:$30M annually, 22-23:$32M annually, 24:$30M club option ($8M buyout), 25:$30M club option
2024-25 options guaranteed with top 10 finish in previous year?s MVP vote NOTE: This is really funny.
full no-trade protection at signing, highest average annual value in history

I am certain that Chris Ilitch hated the extension and is livid that his marker with Miggy is ongoing for three more seasons. I mean, he gets a raise next season.

EDIT: Tom, I recall that you were against the extension from the outset. I was not. Now, we know that 2016 was Cabrera's last decent season.

In the back of our minds I think we all had us as a sub 60 win team.

Compared to Cabrera, Pujols has been a bargain for both the Cards and the Angels. Albert didn't get paid $$20+M until 5 years after Migwell in '10, and didn't earn $$30+M until this year. The Tigers could have received a shit ton in trade for Cabrera after '14, albeit earning the livid ire of Tigers fans for a couple of years, since he would have had one more elite season before his body parts began to break down.
