Tigers vs. indians Game Thread August 5

Benoit's giving up way too many damn homers in the last two months...

Or why not the squeeze? With Berry being a good bunter. Oh yeah, I forgot...Jimmy hates the squeeze and Lloyd is going to run the game exactly like he would...
Not sure I've ever seen a squeeze with a force at the plate.

JB now at 9 homers this year.... He only gave up 5 last year and , and 6 the previous 3 years before that..

I wanted it done with Omar.... Looks like we never never thought about doing it... frustrating..

Would have been a terrible call.

Leadoff man on 3rd and you have 2 outs to get him home, last thing you want is to risk him getting thrown out on a failed squeeze.

We probably have a better shot of scoring 3 runs to win than one...no small ball involved...

I wouldn't have risked doing a squeeze there. You have no outs and a guy coming up to the plate who already hit a home run and following him are your two all world power hitters. It didn't work out for us this time.

Once again why put Benoit out for a second inning. We need him for the Yankee series. Not a good game managing or hitting in key situations today

could need more than 3 if JB keeps pitching like this...

edit: NOWWWWW we bring in downs lol

I'm guessing the thought was 'surely we can hit one out of the infield, right?'

I guess...He did hit a homer... But free swingers tend to expand the zone. Omar looked like he was thinking and trying to hard at the plate with that at bat... He strike out pitch was not even close...Then again with 2 strikes the SB would have been called off anyway...Really good teams don't fail in that spot... He did then Berry had a poor at bat too.. frustrating... The Tigers should be celebrating a win right now..

Right, he now has a whopping 31 RBI for a guy who used to be one of the premier power hitters in the AL.

I'm sure that AB resserrected his career.
So basically you use RBI when it supports your stance, but when it doesn't then it's not really a good gauge?:hmm:

I think the Indians have done it twice verses us this year... Just on principle alone we should have tried it. Oh well just chalk up another lose we should have won... We must be up to a bunch of those this year..Weather it is the Players, managers, coaches, or umpires fault the tigers have given too many games away this year... Maybe we can come back...

I wasn't using it at all really, I posted his BA. in the other post also.

Just pointing out he's terrible anymore, and 1 RBI (or HR if it makes you happy) didn't change anything.
