Tigers - indians Game Preview.
from blessyouboystigersblog

Verlander has faced the Indians more than any team in his career and is 13-12 with a 4.70 ERA in 28 starts. He is 6-9 with a 5.79 ERA in 16 starts at Progressive Field. His 204 strikeouts are also the most vs. any team.

Miguel Cabrera is hitting .340 (103-for-303) with 15 doubles, 19 home runs and 66 RBIs in 78 games against Cleveland since the start of the 2008 season. He is tops among all active Major League players with 19 home runs and 66 RBIs vs. the Indians during that stretch.

The Tigers are seeking their fifth straight series win.
Who else would the Tigers like to lead the charge other than Justin Verlander?
Verlander will try for his fourth straight win as Detroit -- winners in 14 of 17 games -- closes out its three-game series against the third-place Indians in Cleveland.
Cleveland will counter with Zach McAllister, the fourth straight right-hander the Tigers, who are stuck in a two-way tie with the Chicago White Sox, will have faced.
They're expected to see righties in their first two games in Toronto, too.
Omar Infante will bat ninth for the third straight game with Quintin Berry starting in left and hitting second. The switch-hitting Ramon Santiago will bat eighth and spell Jhonny Peralta at shortstop, and Alex Avila will make his fourth straight start behind the plate.
from Mlive

The only major change tonight's Tigers lineup is at shortstop as they go for a series win in Cleveland.
Ramon Santiago will start in place of Jhonny Peralta, who is 0-for-10 in the past three games, and will bat eighth. Omar Infante bats ninth for the third consecutive night with Indians right-hander Zach McAllister on the mound.
Justin Verlander starts for the Tigers, carrying an 11-5 record and a 2.42 ERA. He pitched eight innings and gave up two runs in his lone start against Cleveland this season (May 24), a 2-1 loss.
McAllister, 24, has a 4-2 record and 3.21 ERA in nine starts. He gave up just two runs in 6.1 innings May 24 against the Tigers, a 4-2 win.

Brantley career 9 for 19 .474 against JV wow let's see that number come down tonight.

Supposed to be rain at 8PM?

First pitch is 7:05 p.m., but there is an 85-percent chance it will be raining at game time.
Thunderstorms are forecast for all evening in Cleveland, not moving out of the area until after midnight.

Looks like it's raining there right about now but should be moved out by game time or shortly thereafter, probably a slightly pushed back start wouldn't surprise me, however more popping up behind off and on all night is a very good possibility.

I hope it isn't one of those on again off again games where we end up wasting a JV start.

This blows, should have been a 1 pm game with the Tigers leaving town.

Now god knows what time it will be when they get in to Toronto [if this gets delayed] and they could be dragging ass tomorrow to start a series with the Jays.

I was surprised to see it wasn't. Usually it's a thursday afternoon game to get to next road city for weekend.

**** bunting.

And you'd expect a player like Berry to be a good bunter, and a good baserunner, and a good fielder, but he's really not any of those, he's just fast.
