Tigers vs. indians Game Thread June 5

Appreciate the candor from Leyland, now fire Lloyd!

Lloyd has to go. If they're not going to fire Leyland, ya gotta blame someone and Lloyd is it.

Latest Example: BB is completely lost at the plate, the ball doesn't sound right leaving his bat, it's been like this all year, if Lloyd can't figure something out after all this time get someone in here that can help him figure it out!

Dombrowski is the one that put this team together.
what other team would bring Young back and bat him 5th, take forever to finally move inge, then Raburn at least until July, or Boesch and his .260 OBP, he looks completely lost and the face of someone living with a 24/7 panic attack.

softball team with very little defense at key positions.
so you wind up with 4/5 out innings,

key play Berry playing too shallow on assdrubal cabrera triple, and Leyland or coach not positioning/telling him to play a little deeper, before.

Avila headed for an MRI.

Can someone tell me Leyland's comments? I missed them as I couldn't watch highlights of that amazing game.

Maybe ESPN or the MLB network will pick up on it.. i was blasted on here for suggesting this team laughes to much with opposing players on the base paths and was berated in saying the season was long and the players need to have fun.. But when your 5 games under .500 almost in fourth place it does not look good when your 2 best hitters are laughing in the dugout down 2 runs in the ninth inning. I can understand it if your winning and are in first place but that type of attitude really suggest what... I don't really give a fuck if we lose... Would Lance Parrish or Kirk Gibson have done that.. Heck jack Morris probably would have punched either of them.. I just don't like it...

Post game;

Avila: "Right now, we?re backed up into a corner, and we?re taking our licks, literally, & we?ve just gotta get right back up, and hit back".

Avila: "It?s never going to be easy. You don?t put together teams, and expect to roll. That?s just not how the game works."

Avila: "We?ve just gotta get back to it, and come out swinging."

Leyland: We're in the corner, on the ropes, you gotta make up your mind ...

Leyland: ... are you going to come out slugging or do you want to take the beating?

The "swinging" part was metaphorically speaking. Leyland talked to the Tigers after game, made comparison to a boxer wobbly on his feet.

Leyland: We'll see if we come out fighting. RIght now we're just not doing enough of the things that are conducive to winning games.

Smyly on trying to do too much: "Sometimes, yeah, me and Jonesy have talked about about it."

Smyly on trying to do too much: "ou try to make too good of a pitch, instead of just letting the pitch do what it?s supposed to do."

Smyly on trying to do too much: "And when you do that, you get into trouble. I?ve definitely done that a few times this year."

yeah i missed Jim's comments to.. I stormed off to the store pounding cracker jack in the car i was so pissed after tonight's game... i listened to Dickerson post game but he depressed me he was so deflated..

Tough to watch. Plus I thought our draft today was very weak

Just great... More good news... Did they at least make one pick with a second basemen in mind... Heck i don't care if it is in round 307.... Just pick a little league and groom him for 14 years.

I couldn't make heads or tails out of any draft picks so I doubt anyone can talk about how weak it is, yet.

They did a lot wrong this past off season. Re-signing Young & signing Fielder are the two that come to mind.

Exactly. They are the only ones doing anything, they can do whatever the fuck they want to. It isn't their fault the surrounding players can't hit.

This is crap.

People are calling for Leyland and DD's heads because the team is playing like shit, but we're going to give the leaders of this team a free pass?

Bullshit. 21 guys have more homeruns than Prince (just in the AL!). I don't care about his nice average hitting singles, you wanna laugh your fat ass off after an embarrassing home loss, then you better do more.

The Tigers are a team and accountability goes top to bottom, you guys would be pissed if Leyland or DD was laughing about it, so get outta here with that shit that Miggy and Prince get a free pass.

Lead by example, go ahead and show Boesch, Young, and Peralta, who we need to get going, that it's okay to giggle and carry on about a shitty pitcher and his 5+ ERA making them look like morons.

Cabrera should be showing by example that whats happening is not alright, Prince too.

Maybe Prince farted or something. I know you don't want them to laugh and joke around, but baseball is a long season, you can't be serious all the time. Now is the time for the manager to take the leadership role and rip some new assholes about accountability.

Again, stupid that you want the manager to take all the heat, but let the players slide.

That would be like you going into work today and jerking off for 8 hours while they fire your boss for it.

Didn't anyone think we had holes on this team or at least question marks before the season started? This falls a bit on DD. I'm thankful he doesn't just make a trade to trade and there just might have been no better options but someone has to be accountable, that's just the way it works.
