Hard to believe when you look at the stats, but through all the damage, Joe Saunders has still managed to hold left-handed hitters to a .220 average and .357 slugging percentage this year, while racking up more strikeouts (35) than hits allowed. That means right-handed batters have hit him hard, batting .341 with a .964 OPS.
With that in mind, Matt Tuiasosopo gets his first start (and first meaningful at-bats) since Sept. 3. He hasn’t appeared in a game of any sort since getting an at-bat in the 16-2 rout of the Royals in Kansas City Sept. 6. Nick Castellanos had picked up the starts in left field since then.

from the 'oh shit, just what we don't need column',
Bruce Rondon has had tender elbow. Might throw tomorrow.”
At career high in innings (57) worth monitoring.

Jhonny Peralta will report to the Instructional League in Florida as a left fielder on Wednesday.
Leyland then expects Peralta to join them in Miami for last series of regular season.
Jim Leyland was not willing to say whether Jhonny Peralta will be added to a potential postseason roster.

You knew Rondon had to have something wrong since they haven't been using him at all.

Actually I was thinking it was just one of those Leyland things.

He's done it before with healthy guys like Smyly and Below. Just lets them collect rust.

I kept on seeing Alburquerque warning up in the pen in the late innings and thinking they just wanted to see him get sharp before they decide if they want to keep him on the playoff roster or not.

Peralta in left? If he doesn't kill us defensively that might not be a bad idea. I don't mind bringing him back if he can help the team. He has served his time and I will forgive him the second he gets a really big hit or contributes in a win. As long as he can help, there is no reason to make the rest of the team pay for a mistake he has already served time for.

Mud will be happy. They freed Tui.

Tui!!! yes that does make me happy, whether he blows tonight or not I am a firm believer in staying with the guys that helped get you here over sep call ups getting starts while your still trying to wrap up the div and obtain the best post season seed possible.

Thank you smoker!

A Tigers spokesperson said Omar Infante is OK after being struck by a line drive in batting practice. He will remain in starting lineup.

This happened to Al Al a year or two ago.

It will be interesting to see how Rick follows up his 1st career complete game. I think the Tigers are going to have to score a bunch of runs. That was my attempt to be a little more positive.

Prince is probably pissed that cost him an RBI.

He'll just have to hit a 2-run shot now.

What in the world is Miggy doing on 2nd base...clapping his hands and pointing to right field???

Lets get some runs boys. Would love to knock the magic number down by 2 tonight. Also, I just like seeing the tribe lose. Can't stand those guys. Hope they don't make the WC.
