1 home run, 10 double 50 hits. Only 2 players have gotten 500 HR, 600 DBLS, and 3000 Hits.

Too bad he most likely won't get 2000 RBI's.

YOU MAKE THE CALL.
Totally Tigers

You Make the Call is the segment where readers must make a decision.

Every week we will identify an issue that is going on with the Tigers. And it?s an issue that must be resolved by A.J. Hinch.

Readers must choose one decision from the 2 or 3 offered as the one you feel is the best way to address the issue.

As always, we ask readers to take some time to comment and explain their rationale. Please remember to keep your comments to the 4-sentence maximum rule.

Let?s kick this off!

Part of the rebuild process and part of A.J. Hinch?s role in partnership with Al Avila is to evaluate his roster and determine who has a future in Detroit and who doesn?t.

When it comes to the infield, who is proving to not have a future in Detroit?

Niko Goodrum is considered a utility player so his ceiling is different from Willi Castro, but he continues to struggle with injuries and a poor year at the plate.

Willi Castro showed how well he could do offensively during the short season in 2020, but it has not transferred into 2021.

You can only choose one. You make the call.
When it comes to the infield, who is proving to not have a future in Detroit?

1. Niko Goodrum

2. Willi Castro

Using FanGraphs (DET Rankings by position):

Overall = 30th

C = 26th

1B = 29th

2B = 27th

SS = 30th

3B = 24th

LF = 17th

CF = 29th

RF = 22nd

Now using UZR/150 (a better stat than DRS)

C = NA

1B = 25th

2B = 25th

SS = 26th

3B = 26th

LF = 13th

CF = 28th

RF = 28th

**DRS includes Homerun saving catches for Outfielders, which does not take into account ballparks. A LFer in Boston plays 81 games in front of the Green Monster. While BOS leads this year, their lead would be greater without that metric.

DET 2017-2019 DRS Rankings (Last 3 full seasons)

Overall = 30th

3B = 30th

LF = 14th

CF = 24th

RF = 30th

This is not an isolated year with defense.
