There?s 60 days left in Tigers season .. explain to me why Victor Reyes is getting AB.. what don?t you know about him... there?s no system player you need to see instead?
What we have learned these past 3 weeks. There are actually MLB Owners worse than Chris Illitch. I know this shocks Detroiters but it?s unfortunately true.
For perspective .. the Tigers spent 17.5M on FA in 2021 only Grossman 5M will be retained.. so going into the offseason DET payroll is about 74M.. feel free to spend for somebody Illitch family cash.

Maybe it's a good thing that the Detroit Tigers were not very active at the trade deadline. In a recent study, numbers were crunched about the 10 deadline trades under GM Al Avila.

In 10 trades, only 1 was deemed successful based upon all of the players' performances - the Tigers receiving Jeimer Candelario and Isaac Paredes for Alex Avila and Justin Wilson. Two of those trades were considered to be a draw while the remaining 7 were shown to be losses.

In those 10 trades, opposing teams gained 29 wins above replacement. The Tigers received only 2 wins above replacement in return.

The Detroit Tigers did not trade Jonathan Schoop who is a free agent in 2 months and just hired Scott Boras. Boras always takes his players to the open market in order to get the lengthiest and highest priced contract. Schoop is expected to want a contract app. 4-5 yrs in length.

If the Tigers do not make the qualifying offer of $18.9 million to Schoop, he will walk and the Tigers will get nothing in return. Several days ago, Schoop confirmed that the Tigers had not come to him about a contract extension.

I don't think there's any excuse for them to not come away with one of the big name shortstops this winter.

If they just try, they should be held accountable. Chris Ilitch has more money in his couch cushions than they are spending on the payroll right now. Miggy's deal is up in two years. They have the money.

They still have work to do, but the Tigers are miles ahead of where they were even just last year, let alone 5 years ago.

They're above .500 since May 1, on a 90-win pace since May 8, and have two top-15 prospects on the way in 2022 (along with, hopefully, some big help in free agency).

What do they expect to see out of Reyes to keep giving him at bats that they haven't seen the last couple years. Time to move on and give those at bats to others. Both castros too for that matter
