No one hits HRs against Pirates at higher rate than Prince Fielder.
Prince Fielder has hit 28 home runs against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He will have a shot to add to that total tonight when the Detroit Tigers open a three-game series against the Pirates.
Fielder has hit a home run once every 12.86 at-bats in his career against the Pirates, the best rate against the Pirates of any active player. He is hitting .283 (102-for-360) with 14 doubles, a triple, 28 home runs and 77 RBIs in 101 games against the Pirates.
Fielder is 3-for-8 with two home runs against right-hander A.J. Burnett (7-2, 3.52 ERA), who will start tonight for the Pirates.
Doug Fister (1-3, 2.68 ERA) will start for the Tigers.

Back in Northern Michigan for my annual summer visit. Looking forward to actually being able to watch some games on TV. Would be nice to have the division lead back when I head home on July 7th.

cml, good for you. I'll stay here for a while longer, then head up to the SF Bay area next month. Love Phoenix in the fall & winter, merely tolerate it now. I'm heading to Detroit in September & will stay until it starts to cool down down here (meaning: goes from 110 to 90 lol).

Wow no BB in the lineup, interesting considering he's hitting .429 against burnett.

And how much better he is on the road this year also...Maybe something us up???

I think that Boesch provides more offensively and defensively (sadly) than Delmon, so I'd rather see Boesch over Delmon, especially considering Boesch has better numbers against Burnett.

Thank you for reading my mind and posting it for me.

What is going on here? Pirates getting to Fister? Can we ever win a series opener?

Doug Fister allowed 2 runs in 1st inning vs Pirates. He had allowed 2 runs TOTAL in 1st innings in 1st 7 starts.

Burnett is 5-2 with a 5.92 ERA in his career vs. Tigers.

He may suck, but Delmon is worse...

Ugh.

Sucks we're stuck with one of those two hacks in the lineup and field.

Need Dirks back, and need to trade for an OFer.

I still can't believe they fucking signed Young, just horrible.
