Tigers vs. rays Game Thread April 12

Tigers batting 8th inning,

Fielder lines a single over short with the shift on and 3B's glove,

Young strikes out swinging,

Avila drills it to the wall in right center and Fielder scores as Alex gets a triple,

Tigers lead 6 - 2,

Peralta pop fly just behind second,

Dirks in the dirt gets away and Avila comes in and scores, replay shows it bounced off the catcher to the pitcher near first and throw was late, and Dirks grounds out,

Tigers lead 7 - 2,

Why Valverde? He pitched yesterday, it isn't a save opportunity, we play tomorrow.

Its hard not to get excited thinking about what this lineup will be like once Vmart is healthy lol.

I'm getting concerned about Jimmy's health. Hope he doesn't have a brain tumor.

Yeah don't get it. You have a 5-run lead and start a divisional series tomorrow. No comprende.

Valverde pitching 9th inning, mudhen in LF, Santiago at 2B,

pena grounder to Fielder,

longoria grounds out to Cabrera,

krappinger fly to Birthday Boesch,

Tigers win 7 - 2.

High Fives all around, Tigers Victory Cigar.

Nice win. I am sure that a week ago every single one of us would have been thrilled if you told us we would start the season 5-1 considering we played the bsox and the rays. Yesteredays loss should have been a win but overall, a great 1st week. Well done boys. Go Tigers.

Overall a pretty darn good debut for Smyly. Bats finally woke up. Boesch gets it going. And hey even the Big Tater only needs 11 pitches in a non-save situation.

Should be a relaxing rest of the day now. :)

Good job by Boesch today getting 2 hits off pitches that were away, the second even looked off the plate.

Hopefully if he can keep going opposite field or up the middle away from the alignments, teams will start throwing inside to him more.

Yes, we can relax a tad. Plus, we get to go to ChiTown, murder capital of the USA of late, sans one Oz Fidel Guillen to have to listen to.

Go Tigers!

Time for Boesch to break out of it and go 3 for 4 with a dinger and a few RBI's

I was close just off on the HR... His hitting verses LHP continues to impress me..

Cookies all around for the great 5-1 home series start!!!!!
