Key Matchups: Miguel Cabrera is 10-22 (.455) vs James Shields. That's the highest BA for any player with 22+ AB vs Shields.
Peralta is 9-for-19 (.474) with three home runs in his career against Shields.

Tigers - rays series.
from DetroitFox

Delmon Young, Brennan Boesch and Prince Fielder have combined for the same number of at-bats against Tampa Bay Rays right-hander James Shields as Jhonny Peralta has had against him in his career.
Peralta has nine times as many hits as his three teammates combined.
Peralta is 9-for-19 (.474) with three home runs in his career against Shields (7-4, 3.99 ERA), who will start opposite Tigers right-hander Max Scherzer (6-5, 5.12 ERA) tonight as the teams open a four-game series at Tropicana Field.
Miguel Cabrera is hitting .455 (10-for-21) with a home run against Shields. Young, Boesch and Fielder are a combined 1-for-19 (.053) against the right-hander.
The Tigers are using their "everyday lineup" in the opener with Boesch in right, Quintin Berry in left and Ramon Santiago at second base. Alex Avila is in the lineup as the catcher for the third consecutive game.
Shields is 5-0 with a 3.51 ERA in eight career starts against the Tigers. Scherzer is 0-2 with a 3.06 ERA in three career starts against the Rays.

Why wouldn't Leyland put Raburn in RF over Boesch?

Because of .176?

Raburns line stats since his recall from Toledo: .320/.346/..480/.826

I don't think he's back to second-half Raburn yet, but he's a better option than both Young and Boesch right now.

So? DY is batting .400 since June 27. Lol.

I get you were trying to make a joke, but...

Another reason using batting average as an indicator is terribly wrong, June has been DY's best month for BA. at .272, yet his worst in .OBP at .280, and his OPS for June is the lowest so far too at .627, and a dismal Slg. of .348

What this tells us is that Delmon is a shitty singles hitter, with hardly any extra base power, and should be hitting 8th or 9th if at all.

I vote for not at all.

Yes and I agree.

The real question should be how my HR's for Luke fucking Scott against us this series?

Come on MI... Since June 14th when he came back he is 8 for 25 with 4 doubles and 4 singles and 1 rbi and 3 runs...1 BB and 8 k's... Some .320's are better the others.. RR,BB, and DY can all take a hike but you don't start RR verses Shields...He is 1 for 5 with 4 k's verses him... Maybe Shields screws up and BB closes his eyes and swings..

Did they really just give a weather update for a domed stadium?

The Rays announcer just said the shift should be banned because Pena just got robbed of a base hit. The other announcer is speechless right now.
