Tigers vs. reds Game Thread June 10

Why take Jackson out of his leadoff spot where he's been fantastic this year for a guy who is a bench player when we have a healthy OF?

Nothing simplistic about it, leadoff is more important than #2, and Jackson is a better hitter.

I just don't feel Berry fits the typical #2 hitter. it's just odd.

I hate that new camera angle they keep trying to show you once in a while...Behind the home plate but off to the side....you can't see the ball cross the plate.

Well it was a late scratch, I guess Leyland could have juggled the whole lineup and put Berry 8th, but then we would have Worth or Santiago second.

Tigers batting in the 1st,

Jackson leads off swings and misses, grounder to short,

Berry shows bunt takes a fastball outside, swings and misses that one same location, fastball fouled back, swings and misses a slider,

Cabrera takes outside, fastball low, belt high strike call, slider low, outside for a walk,

Fielder fastball on/off the corner strike call, grounder to short,

13 pitches for bailey

People are seriously over-rating Berry.

He plays nice D, and can run like Forrest Gump, but seriously, replace Ajax with him at leadoff if Ajax does not hit? Berry is not hitting much himself, he got off to a hot start, but let's be real.

He's a bench OF'er any way you slice it.

at this point he's still probably a better option than boesch, who if his bat is ice cold isnt even a bench quality OF. if boesch actually starts hitting, its a different story. i just doubt he will for more than a few weeks maybe.

when dirks comes back, berry should start but hit 9th until we get a real RF.

Smyly pitching in the first,

cozart strike call, low and in, ground foul, swings and misses letter high,

ffheisy fastball high, inside, down and in, fastball strike call, another fouled back, can a corn to Jackson,

capodagazivotto swings and misses a fastball, just low, cutter low, grounder to Fielder Smyly cover first,

14 pitches for Smyly.

Please tell me we aren't going to make this guy look like Walter Johnson on national TV.

Tigers batting in the 2nd inning,

hackyoungtongue fastball strike call, slider low, slider low and a little squib few inches in front of home out at first,

Santiago 1 and 1, fastball inside, sawed off ground foul, again, swings and misses a slider low,

Laird takes low, takes a strike, low fastball grounded to third,

25 pitches for bailey.

he's been doing that at least once a game, but it's usually a strike then he swings wildly at a slider foot off the corner.

I think your right, I think it's usually the last AB on the day he takes the first one, tonight he's mixing it up a little bit I guess.

So what happened, I had to step outside but heard Dickerson hollering about Berry...

Did he misplay a ball, or collide with someone?

He dove for a ball down the right field line but couldn't hang on to it and he knocked the wind out of himself. No error or anything like that. He was sprinting the entire way and layed out for it. Nearly threw Phillips out at 2nd base anyways.
