Because I find it amusing how some people want to blame Leyland for things that are obviously the fault of the players not performing in their expected roles.

Yeah, it's standard to use a closer at home in the 9th or 10th in a tie game.

But Valverde has a history, and smokey LOVES to play history with the hitters(Peralta sits cause he's 1 for 13 off this guy mumble mumble), just never the pitcher.

You have to know that could happen or if nothing else we might fail to score with the dead weight due up the next half inning, it was dumb to use Valverde there.
