Interesting to note, though, that Andy Dirks will bat sixth ahead of slumping Jhonny
Peralta.

Anibal Sanchez allowed just one run in seven innings pitched in his only career outing against the Kansas City Royals. He also suffered the loss in that game.
Sanchez (3-6, 4.55 ERA) will get another shot at beating them tonight when the Detroit Tigers host the Royals in the second game of a four-game series at Comerica Park.
Sanchez scattered seven hits and did not issue a walk Aug. 29 in a start against the Royals in Kansas City, but the Tigers suffered a 1-0 loss in that game.
Royals left-hander Bruce Chen scattered four hits and one walk in eight shutout innings in that game. Chen (11-12, 5.22 ERA) will be on the mound for the Royals again tonight.
Miguel Cabrera is hitting .423 (11-for-26) with three home runs in his career against Chen. Delmon Young is 8-for-18 (.444) with a home run.
Avisail Garcia and Gerald Laird are in the starting lineup for the Tigers against the left-hander.
The Tigers trail the Chicago White Sox by one game in the Central Division race but will not have to wait to see how the White Sox fare today. The White Sox are hosting the Cleveland Indians in an afternoon game at U.S. Cellular Field. The Tigers will either trail by a half-game or 1 1/2 games by the time their game begins tonight.

Santana just freaking got picked off third...catcher to shortstop....WTF...

Then a error leading off bottom of the 8th.... I smell fishy Indians...No lefty for Dunn yesterday...

3 outs to go....Perez pitching 9th.

I don't like that guy anymore every since he was jawing at Miggy after one of our loses in Cleveland on that last trip there. Anyone ever find out what the jackass was saying anyway?

Jackass gives up a HR to lead off the bottom of the 9th 4-3

Leyland: "my expectation for this team is postseason. If we don't get to the postseason I'd be very disappointed".

Leyland on AL Central: "I think there are probably 5 teams that feel like they are capable of doing more than we did".

Leyland asked if surprised with season to date: "Yes." With standings currently? "Yes."

Leyland: "Our year up to this point has been disappointing. But it's not over yet".
