So what is the purpose of a trade deadline if you can still make trades afterwards.

Because you don't get to pick and chose your trades now.

Players have to clear waivers, and there is an order in which teams can decide to make a claim.

No such thing as a blockbuster trade when the waivers are involved.

In this case actually posting the word "ass" is quite appropriate, IMO.

If they really intend to continue running the offensively-punchless and defensively-challenged Ordonez out onto the field, then the acquisition of Young becomes that much less effective and instead becomes almost entirely head-scratchingly dumb..
