Gates will open at 3:30 p.m., an hour earlier than usual, for pregame autographs as well as pregame batting practice for the current Tigers. In addition to the former players listed above, Tigers alumni signing autographs on the Comerica Park concourse include 1968 World Series champions Mickey Lolich, Tom Matchick and Jon Warden; 1979 American League All-Star Steve Kemp; Tigers AL championship manager Jim Leyland, 2006 AL champion Craig Monroe and 2012 AL champions Phil Coke, Andy Dirks and Doug Fister. Several alumni will also participate in a pregame question-and-answer session with fans.

Manning goes 5 innings 2 walks 3 K's 0 runs 1 hit allowed,

Drops his ERA from 7.94 to 6.14

Manning starts the 6th and give up a leadoff single,

now a walk,

Krol replaces Manning....

promptly gives up a balk and a hit for the runs to score and charged to Manning,

2 - 0 twins,

Krol still Blows dead goats 4 - 0,

I was super excited at 40-47 and possible having a crack at 3 wins in Minnesota in this series which they would have if Greene and Spencer were up.

Don?t worry about it.

You do know that on a given day, going into the game, no team can be predicted to be that much better than the other team, right?

It?s a game on inches; and really, generally, whose starting pitcher is the best that day.

And lots of times the best pitcher, generally, ain?t the the best that day.

That?s why it takes so many games to get it right.

Twins 4 - Tigers 2: Kenta Maeda outduels Matt Manning.
Matt Manning looked substantially improved, but one bad inning from the bullpen sank the Tigers in this one.

THE SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

The Saturday Survey offers the opportunity to weigh in on a relevant topic.
So here is a poll to gauge the pulse of our passionate readers.

Today, we center the discussion on the Tigers? resurgence the last 2 months.

As always, we welcome your comments, so please vote and then submit your reasons (4 sentences max!) for how you voted in the usual comment box. Don?t forget to come back later and view the results!

The Detroit Tigers, dwelling for much of the year in last place, find themselves now sitting in 3rd place in the AL Central. They are only 4.5 games out of 2nd place (through Thursday?s games). April saw significantly more losses than wins, but May and June turned into months in which they had more wins than losses and started winning their first series in 3 years. And in July, they have won the last 3 series in a row.

How surprised are you by their performance so far?

1. Not surprised at all.

2. Somewhat better than I thought.

3. Very surprised.

4. Pinch me.
