Tigers vs. whitesox 9-05-16 Game 137

Justin Verlander now has 35 career games with 10-or-more strikeouts and six this season (last, 7/30 vs. HOU).

With two homers today, Miguel Cabrera now has 439 homers in his career, tying Adrian Beltre and Paul Konerko for 42nd in MLB history.

The rest are batting behind Cabrera he not going to drive them in. The plate setters have not done there job!

Oh I know, I was just pointing out that the entire offense sucked today.

Also, judging by what Miggy just did with a guy on, maybe we're better off with nobody on lol

J Up Goes BIG BOOM!!!!!!!!!!
3 Run BOMB!!!

Tigers lead 5 - 2,

Nice call by Dickerson!!!!! I just said to my wife to hit it out Justin !!!!!!

The experts were right. Upton is a streaky hitter and he's been a major part of the team's success over the past several weeks. I've already forgiven him for all of the strikeouts this year.

With 4 hits tonight and 2,491 Miggy passes Fred McGriff for 101st all time in career hits.
Next up is Mickey Vernon in 100th place with 2,495.

With 2 RBI tonight, Miggy has 1,532 RBI and just passed Tris Speaker for 49th place all-time.
Next up is Joe DiMaggio with 1,537.

I'm glad I kept watching in the 11th after Miggy got out. I thought Miggy was our guy to win the game, but I was wrong. Upton for the win!!!

Miggy takes Sale deep for 300th Tigers HR.
Detroit slugger swats No. 301 off White Sox ace in next at-bat.
Tigers official site

Miguel Cabrera: Two dingers = one roar. He also had two non-homer hits for a four-hit day.

Justin Verlander: Allowed two runs through seven innings and he struck out 11 batters.

Justin Upton: In a 1-2 count, Upton delivered with a three-run homer in the 11th.

Tigers offense: Aside from Cabrera’s big day, Detroit had just two hits — J.D. Martinez and James McCann — off of Sale.

STATS AND INFO:
Miguel Cabrera’s homer in the first marked his 300th homer as a Tiger and his 30th of the season. He’s just the fourth player in franchise history with at least 300 homers. The other three are Al Kaline, Norm Cash, and Hank Greenberg.
Also, he’s the third active player to hit 300 dingers with the same team (David Ortiz: 476 HR, BOS; Ryan Howard: 377 HR, PHI).

Justin Verlander struck out his 200th batter of the season in the second inning. It’s the first time he’s done so since 2013 for the sixth of his career.
Verlander finished with 11 strikeouts on Labor Day, marking the 35th time in his career where he’s put up 10-or-more strikeouts in a game. It’s the sixth time this season, his last coming on July 30 against the Astros.
Hitters are batting just .163 against Tigers Justin Verlander (41-for-251) during the 2nd half of the season
(MLB Rank: 2nd; LgAvg: .259)

Cabrera homered again in the third inning, giving him 38 multi-homer games for his career, and his fifth this year. His last was on July 31 against the Astros, and he now has 439 homers in his career, which ties Adrian Beltre and Paul Konerko for 42nd in MLB history.

Justin Upton has hit eight home runs in his last 14 games.
