Where else could Big Z land?
2:18PM ET
Carlos Zambrano | Cubs
It appears the Florida Marlins and new skipper Ozzie Guillen could be the favorites to land right-hander Carlos Zambrano when trading season begins after the World Series. The Chicago Cubs may have other options, however.
Zambrano's contract is, of course, a major obstacle, but clubs such as the Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels and Colorado Rockies could potentially have interest if the salary is leveled out enough by the Cubs.
The thought process behind such a suggestion is that those organizations have strong Venezuelan players already in the organization that could have a persuasive influence on Zambrano, perhaps keeping him focused on baseball.
Each of those three clubs win more than the Cubs have of late, too, which may be enough to keep Big Z happy enough to just pitch, rather than let frustration get the best of him.
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox shouldn't be counted out, either, as usual.
