Titus Young to be cut by the RAMS today

This should come as a surprise to nobody; Young's problems have been clear for a long time. Though he was productive in Boise State's offense, Young spent most of his time there in head coach Chris Peterson's doghouse. And when he went to Athletes Performance in Carson, Calif. before his 2011 draft to train, he lasted one day at the facility. Young was booted off the campus after threatening to beat up an intern when he was told that he ran a 4.6 40-yard dash when he expected to run a 4.3, according to football performance trainer Travelle Gaines, who worked at AP at the time.

Sweet.

about as stupid as the team that blew a #44 on him in the draft. :lmao:

- Torrey Smith
- Greg Little
- Randall Cobb

3 WR drafted after the headcase...the Lions passed on

Hindsight is always 20-20. When Young was taken I admit I didn't know much about the kid at all but wasnt happy with the pick as I thought we had much bigger needs than WR.

His troubles at Boise State were well documented, but most of the draft reviews seemed to brush that off as a minor issue. I believe if the Lions didnt take him then he would have been drafted by another team somewhere in the 2nd round. It just so happens that the Lions jumped on him.

But like I said, I didnt like the pick at the time, and now it looks like the worst pick Mayhew has made since taking over for Millen.

he was half a tard at Boise...Mayhew caught some of that WR fetish from his mentor Fat Matt and looked past it.

Slick does as he pleases and will pronunce when it is time to drop it....don't like it...don't read it

Any of us with an ex wife or girlfriend knows that crazy can pop its head up after a year or two out of NOWHERE!!!

Yelling at an intern doesn't = nutcase. Pronouncing you're better than the best WR on the planet DOES!

Glad he's gone. Sucks we wasted the pick.

the silver lining is that mayhew thought a 4.6 WR would be the speed guy opposite calvin that would open up the offense. aka....hes a fucking idiot. To me it means nothing that titus turned into a mental patient.....it was a horid pick even before that cause he couldn't do what he was brought in to do. Guy created zero separation and only got open deep when someone in the secondary fell down.

Not sure where you got 4.6 from......but most people thought otherwise.

In the case of Titus Young.....the Lions "got some" a few times.....but in the end the insanity didn't equal the amount of times he put out.......so the Lions did what most of us have done one time or another....

He ran a 4.54 at the combine so not far off. On top of that he DNP in any other drill. Guess he was too good for them, after all #halloffame.

Also I love how the link you list has him ranked their number 7 receiver prospect well behind both Cobb and Smith. Mayhew learned from the master.

ok...the 4.6 was from the report he got booted from the camp at. But since you brought up that link.....its showing we picked the 7th best wr that year at the top of the 2nd round.....awesomeness. way to go bpa mayhew.

You can't say he didn't have the talent because he most certainly did. It's just management taking confidence for craziness.

Yeah, to think we could have had Torrey Smith or Randall Cobb without trading up is pretty frustrating

Our luck those guys would have been the psychos and Titus would have been the star receiver somewhere else.

Our luck = our scouting and decision making.

With some good luck Ikaika Alama Francis would have been the world's first two time world champion surfer, Olympic gold medalist beach volleyball player, and All Pro DE.

No one claimed him off waivers after the Rams released him. He's going to have to beg for a try out somewhere.

The 2011 draft was another GREAT one for the Lions, only 2 players are still with the team, Fairley and Leshoure, and both of them have been arrested multiple times.

Boy, if we can get 2 starters a draft, we'll have a pretty good team.....never!

Based on last year it looked like Leshour was getting out played by Bell.

Mayhew is definitely on the hot seat. Let's see how he performs under pressure. My guess is not well, while it is difficult to miss at #5, it is obviously not impossible. Also, he needs to perform well in FA, and as yet he has been sub-par in both FAs and the Draft so to do well in both would be surprising.

This is undoubtedly his most challenging FA season yet with all the Lions who are FAs coupled with cap constraints. Top it off with arguably the worst draft class talent-wise in 10+ years, the deck is stacked against him. I will either be impressed or shocked if Mayhew and Schwartz are still around for 2014. If the Lions are able to pull it together and make the playoffs, I will be impressed with their skills. If they fail to make the playoffs, I will be shocked if they are still around based on the impressions given at the end of this year indicating it is a Do Or Die situation they face.

Young better learn a trade or skill, he's not going to be playing football for a living.

Titus tweets his new job skills:

2 aw beaf Patty's specio sawce let us cheez pikels unyons ona Says Me bun
