Get Started"In New York, for example, the Catholic Church spent $2,912,772 lobbying against the Child Victims Act" Just one of many instances of why I don't give to the Church anymore.
Today's Example:
A new report released Tuesday reveals that, over the past eight years, the Catholic Church has spent $10.6 million in the northeastern United States to fight legislation that would help victims of clergy sexual abuse seek justice.
Luke 19:8
"And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, 'Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold.'"
... and then Zacchaeus added, "unless the statute of limitations has expired. And if any should seek to extend the statute of limitations by legislative action, I shall spend millions lobbying against it."
Matthew 5:25
"Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison."
Guess they missed that one...
Who cares. When the Church and the money people donate goes to protect these priests the it's bad practice. You think this is only happening in NY and Penns?Do you live in New York?

How do you know? Anyway, if there were bad priest at your Diocese don't kid yourself thinking they wouldn't payout money to protect them. Priests, bishops, cardinals -- paedophileis rampant. It's not happening where I live; not in my Diocese. So don't penalize your own for the malfeasance of another.

I think it's more rampant more 1 in 50. Still goes on strong today. I don't believe it's slowed down and when it priest gets found out the Church try to protect themselves and cover it up. They have before why would they stop now? And I believe like many even Pope Francis covered it up.
Why are you not in the battle rather than spectating like the politicians who brought their wives, concubines and basket lunches to view First Manassas? Soon, the enemy will swell over the hill and you will be in full retreat. There is a battle for souls waging, and we need men like you to fight it.
I am not interested in helping to reform the Church. I wish it would quietly go away over the next century, and future generations would be taught a moral system based on common sense and societal norms - like don't lie, cheat or steal - instead of a make believe system of punishment or reward in the afterlife. A "social contract" if you will. Was always mildly amusing to me to see Christian Americans mock the "70 Virgins" promised by Muslim extremists, when their own belief system was just as ridiculous.
How much C.S. Lewis have you read? I'd recommend it.
Not much.
My annual reading list tends toward more "grown up" authors and topics.
I stopped reading "young adult" authors when I became a "young adult" (I've always been ahead of the curve).
Houston pastor who supported criminalizing abortion arrested and charged with molesting a teenage relative (link):
"Bratton was a pastor at Grace Family Baptist Church near Houston. He was outspoken in support of a bill that would have abolished abortions in Texas and threatened charging women who undergo the procedure with homicide."
Do as we say, not as we do.
Also, this could be another GOP slogan: We care about unborn human life; it is sacred. However once out of the womb, we don't give two fucking shits about them.
P-H. Saw the trailer. Thank you for posting it. I submit that this demonstrates why certain, predatory homosexuals should not be priests, because that is the reason why this priest, and many other priests, became priests. These are not holy men, and they never were, and their intention was and is to bring down the Church from within.
I would go farther and submit that predatory anything should not be priests.
Being a a predator and being a priest seems to me counterintuitive.
It?s like giving a wolf a staff and telling him to go herd the sheep.
