Today's example of Christians behaving badly

So make your own thread and prove it.

It's no fun. Who makes fun of Atheists?

Why did the Atheist cross the road?

He thought there might be a street on the other side, but he wouldn?t believe it until he tested his hypothesis.

No dating for those damn, filthy homosexual student-athletes. No supporting them either!

Texas college bans gay athletes from dating or supporting same-sex marriage

by Cyd Zeigler

LeTourneau University, an NCAA Division III school in Texas, has banned its gay student-athletes from dating and has banned all athletes from vocalizing support for same-sex marriage. The possible punishments listed for either "immoral" behavior includes dismissal from the athlete's team.

The school's student-athlete handbook, complete with NCAA logo, now reads:

Consistent with our desire to celebrate and model a Scriptural approach to sexuality;, the University prohibits same-sex dating behaviors and public advocacy for the position that sex outside of a biblically-defined marriage is morally acceptable.

The addition of the anti-gay language is new for the school. The student-athlete handbook from the 2011-12 academic year did not contain any reference to homosexuality. The movement by trustees and administrations to explicitly marginalize LGBT students on college campuses across the country is growing, even as students and faculty become increasingly accepting. Recent episodes at Erskine College, Hillsdale College and an unnamed Christian school in the South have been particularly troubling.

LeTourneau Univ. is an inter-denominational Christian school in Longview, Texas, an hour west of Shreveport, La. The school's enrollment is a couple thousand students.

Interestingly, the handbook also claims to stand for five principles: "Commitment, Excellence, Integrity, Respect, Community." A commitment to respect for the integrity of the LGBT community doesn't seem to be part of that equation.

The school's policy gagging student-athletes on a key public-policy issue of the day runs against the spirit of the First Amendment, something so many Texans and Christians claim to hold so dearly.

LeTourneau has a history of anti-gay efforts. The administration has brought in "ex-gay" speaker Christopher Yuan to talk about God helping people become not-gay - it's a common theme with LeTourneau speakers. One gay former LeTourneau student describes a school environment in which closeted gay students feel under constant verbal assault. LeTourneau has not been rated on the Campus Pride Index.

Of course, the school would claim it isn't discriminatory and that it applies its standard on extramarital sex to any student - gay or straight. Yet the school's position doesn't allow any gay student to get married, forbidding them from ever having sex or being intimate with any partner they might have. Forget about marriage - the school forbids its gay students from even dating anyone else.

Lest anyone think this is simply a reflection of Scripture, there is no mention of banning students from eating shellfish. The administration has selectively chosen LGBT people for targeting.

How other NCAA members allow schools with these kinds of bigoted policies to be part of the NCAA is difficult to understand.

Josh Duggar, non-prosecuted & admitted teenage serial chimo (including no less than 4 of his younger sisters) & one of the former "stars" of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting (on hiatus), yuks it up over 2 of his felt-up and fondled siblings:

It's the Christian idea of forgiveness. That bugs me. Yeah, it happened 13 years ago. Yes, he apologized and repented and got right with God. Unfortunately, God has been silent on this issue and has neglected to inform us whether Josh is a pedophile or whether he was just a curious teenager whose parents had made sex such a huge taboo that his mixed up little brain got answers in a fucked up way. I just don't buy the "he was forgiven by God" crap. This is the same excuse given by the church when they cover up a priest's pedophilia.

I wonder if Huckabee and his other defenders would let their young daughters sleep in the same room with them.

two in one day + a connection to Michigan:

here's a anti-LGBT reverend caught trolling grindr for gay hookups.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Here's a winner

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friend...n-church-van-now-arrested-for-stealing-60000/

This pastor from Tennessee was arrested for allegedly stealing $60,000 from the church. It took the church a while to realize this because they have no transparency in their finances.

http://www.timesnews.net/article/9087831/kingsport-pastor-charged-with-felony-theft-from-church

He was previously caught having gay sex in a church van (in a vacant parking lot on a Monday afternoon). To be fair though, I'm not sure if he actually preaches against homosexuality, so he might not necessarily be a hypocrite.

which also means former Ark. gov., current Fox News welfare recipient Mike Huckabee intervened to get his record expunged.

IMO, Huckabee pulled Judge Stacy Zimmerman's string that he had in his vest pocket, to issue an order that the Springdale, AR police dept to destroy Josh's report, and not one of his under-aged female siblings that he molested.

Now it comes out that Duggar sued the state of Arkansas (DHS) in '07 when he was 19, however the result of his lawsuit is sealed. Where did he come up with the cash for lawsuit? His parents, most likely.

Huckabee-Jim Bob-Judge Zimmerman-Josh Duggar-Quiverfull....connect the dots and this was a huge coverup.

A book that teaches about hell to young children, complete with illustrations!

That's a book of Hell-porn for fundie families to scare their home-schooled-kids into blind obedience...sickening.

When I was a tot, the book that scared me the most was Dr. Seuss' "What Was I Scared Of? that illustrated a pair of floating and jumping green pants with nobody wearing them.

I never heard of that one. Dr. Seuss was pretty fucked up. I had a couple of his books, but as a kid I never really liked them that much, with all their surreal drawings and odd characters. nightmare fodder for the over-active imagination of children.

telling kids about hell like that is fucking child abuse.

if you want your kids to grow up to be moral, or at least not to lie, cheat, steal, harm others, etc. there are a lot better ways to go about that.

Yet another right wing Christian that says gay marriage will be the destruction of this country. Seriously guys, this shit is hilarious. And if you really want a laugh, go to facebook and find a news page that is neutral, with both conservative and liberal readers. Look at any gay marriage article or even one about Caitlyn Jenner. Conservative Christians lose their minds in those comments! It's so much entertainment! Here's the article for the link above...

In an interview with CNS News published over the weekend, Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore warned that a Supreme Court ruling in favor of marriage equality would “literally cause the destruction of our country”:

“What [the court is] doing is they’re toying with something that’s like dynamite and will destroy our country,” Justice Roy Moore told CNSNews.com in an exclusive interview last week during the Family Research Council’s annual pastor’s retreat in Washington, D.C.

Moore said a favorable ruling would mean Americans would be forced to accept homosexual marriage and support it through goods and services for those ceremonies.

“I think there’s an attempt to destroy the institution of marriage and I think it will cause, literally cause the destruction of our country or lead to the destruction of our country over the long run,” Moore said. “And I think there are people who would like to see this country destroyed.”

“I’m not saying that everyone who’s homosexual wants to see the country destroyed,” Moore said. “I’m not saying that. I’m saying there’s a push for it.”

You have no idea. When I was maybe 6 or 7 years old, my Grandmother told me that Satan was once a beautiful Angel and that he may come to me and pretend to be God. She said that I couldn't trust that it was truly God, so the test is to pinch yourself. If it hurts, it's Satan. If it doesn't hurt, it's God. She also claimed that Satan will try to get into bed with me to sneak into my dreams, so if I had nightmares, it was because I was letting Satan win and my soul was doomed to Hell. But she said, "Don't worry! When you wake up, pray to God for your soul. Beg forgiveness for your sins and let Jesus into your heart."

For a few years, that was the final thought that went through my mind before bed time. Scary shit when you're that young.
