Top 5 Mayhew Draft Picks

Interesting study.

Digging further, Calvin Johnson (Millen pick) accounts for a third of the Lions' total AV of retained draft picks. Eliminate him and the total AV drops to 142, which averages out to 5.68...good for 31st, only ahead of Oakland.

Retention rate with those guys?? Aren't they all still on their rookie contracts?

So are all guys from 2012-2014 across the league. 2009 we've got plenty of guys too. We have a ton of cap space next year to keep who we want from 2012.

Suh got overpaid and Fairley isn't worth a long term risk. Unfortunate injuries to the Round 2 guys from 2009-2011.

Ngata and Walker are great replacements and still have another draft.

11-5. Great roster still. Mayhew deserves a ton of praise.

Millen pick but Mayhew re-signed Calvin. Thanks really to having a playoff team in 2011 to convince him.

Meyhew needs to deliver playoff wins. So far he blows at that just like the rest of them.. One year we may get lucky..

Well that and paying him more than any other WR in history helped too.
Fun fact CJ cap hit is more than 60% higher than the next WRs

Fun fact. Lions have a ton of cap space next year even with Calvin very high.

I was talking this year, you know the year we lost our best player.

Pretty much everyone has tons of money next year.

Lions didn't overpay for Suh. They could have. They chose not too. Lions have a loaded roster. Super Bowl caliber again.

Really, to be fair, all teams struggle to maintain all their draft picks. The system is designed that way. However, the Lions really choke on it when it counts the most. Just think if they passed on Ebron last year and went with Aaron Donald. I predicted the Lions would take him way before the draft. Javad Best was mentioned and everyone knew except the Lions he was a serious reach and injury risk.

They will reach again this year. Watch them take Melvin Gordon which would be a serious mistake like last year taking Ebron. They will pass up the likes of a Jalen Collins, Jordan Phillips, or a Eddie Goldman. Wait and see. All the high end OT's will be gone by the time they pick.

couldn't win their division, couldn't beat a winning team on the road, couldn't win a playoff game and lost their best player.

They weren't Super Bowl caliber last year...right now they are not Super Bowl caliber either.

They should have known that they were going to need an OT and DT when they drafted @10 last year. There were a lot of great options but they went with a luxury pick instead. Smooth!

Should have won division. Bogus block in the back and had to play at Pats unlike Green Bay. 11-5 was HOF caliber.

We beat Dallas and matched up well with Seattle. We could have easily won Super Bowl.

Super Bowl caliber in 2014 and 2015. Lions are loaded with talent.

Unknown that Suh would be so arrogant wanting 19 per. Donald could be a one year wonder too.

Ebron will be a stud in year 2.

Waddle/Hilliard both got hurt. Unknown double injury.
