Travis Swanson made $545,000 in cash last season playing for the Detroit Lions. On Monday, he picked up a bonus adding up to more than one-fourth of his salary for the season.

The NFL released the performance-based bonus pay allocated to each team on Monday and Swanson, the team?s starting center last season, led the list of Detroit players divvying up $3,802,500. The way the bonuses are divided up is based on salary and playing time.

A bunch of Lions players did quite well as 14 guys picked up more than $100,000. Though no one had any outrageous numbers like Shaun Hill's $76.90 after the 2013 season, the numbers do vary widely.

The top five Lions this year: Swanson ($191,905.10); Josh Bynes ($181,802.72); Nevin Lawson ($174,371.98); Quandre Diggs ($171,636.24) and Tahir Whitehead ($164,314.78).

The bottom five Lions this year: Bill Bentley ($2,773.78); Gabe Ikard ($1,543,77); Corey Robinson ($1,195.24); Kerry Hyder ($622.16); DeAndre Levy ($591.88). (Not even sure he deserves that much...)

Among the Lions big-name players, Calvin Johnson picked up $6,548.99, Matthew Stafford got an extra $7,811.13 and Pro Bowler Ezekiel Ansah nabbed an extra $19,572.91.

Levy earned about $45/snap. 0 tackles

NFL - We pay you for standing on the field.

Swanson should have to pay the Lions fans $191,905.10 for his performance last year.

I'm not sure I would be willing to play a snap for $45.

1st, he didn't earn $45 a snap. He earned a bonus of $45 a snap. He earned a few million bucks for doing the exact same thing we all do... watching football. But he had a much better seat.

As for taking one hit in the NFL... yeah... you wouldn't have a concussion, but it would take a few weeks and a lot of money to pry your head out of your spleen which has been gently wedged into your asshole by way of your neck.

.. I would do it to though. I may be crippled, but hot dayum what a story, huh?

This is what I imagine when I think of it.

Take the ball, and when the defense is coming either drop to the grown or pass it back to the QB. No concussion, no head in spleen - $45 richer. Win-win.

Boog said he wanted to know what it feels like to take a hit.

I'd be happy taking one play as a gunner on ST too slow to make it to the play before it's over.

I'm totally cool with that.

You could run into your own QB, that would constitute as a hit, eh?

Still some risk there. I'm thinking being the punter on a fake where they snap it to the upback is the best bet.
